Adelaide Airport to Victor Harbor Saturday Morning

TL;DR - what is the best value option of getting to Victor Harbor on a Saturday morning?

We are flying to Adelaide on a Saturday morning and need to get to Victor Harbor for a family function.
We have ~3-4 hours to be able to get there.

I'm finding it difficult to find any public transport information to get there except for a bus departing from Seaford.

Shuttles are around ~$160, and so is hiring a car one way (we are getting a lift back to Melbourne).

Can anyone provide any information or guidance?

Thanks
D.

  • There isn't really public transport in Adelaide.

From a quick google looks like there is a bus http://linksa.com.au/documents/timetables/25-2-2018/TT-Route… might not be any cheaper and you'd need to get into the CBD.

I'd just take the shuttle frankly.

    • Thanks for the reply, that's the route I'm currently looking at.
It's a pain to get to Seaford from Ade Airport.

Yeah I wouldn't bother. Just take a taxi or uber. Have both you and your travelling companions used uber? I'm sure there are still referal bonuses/first ride discounts?

"There isn't really public transport in Adelaide."

Bit of a broad statement! I assume you mean inter-city public transport from Adelaide to Victor Harbor?

    Uber website fair estimate says
    UberX is A$97-129

    • Thanks for the reply.
Really considering just flying there and back now, and just hiring a car for a day.

        Hi from Adelaide,

What you can do, depending on your Flight Arrival time on Adelaide time is…

        https://tinyurl.com/y4o674ln

That gets you from Adelaide Airport leaving 7.38am
https://adelaidemetro.com.au/stops/view/17327 to arrive Seaford Railway Station 9.20am via Glenelg and Oaklands Park Railway Station.

Then get the 1252 Link Bus as per http://linksa.com.au/documents/timetables/25-2-2018/TT-Route… at 9.57am and you are at Victor Harbor at 10.42am.

        So, to sum up:
        Bus J1/300M/Seaford Train/1251 Link Bus.

        :+)

What flight are you doing MEL/ADL?
If you are QF671, this would work.

        • Thanks for that.
Really the same thing I was looking at as well, just an early start and no alts if we miss a leg.

          • @dasher86: You should only need to take 1 bus and 1 train to reach Seaford, about 1.5 hr: https://imgur.com/HQDNxwI

If you miss the bus to Victor, at least you're only 45 minutes away to get an Uber or ask someone to pick you up.

      • Presumably you've asked around the family for a ride?

Uber sounds like a bargain! If you can lock in the price.
        But I'd hire a car…
It's a 1 hour drive from the airport and Victor is a large town spread thinly along the coastline. You don't want to be getting off a bus in the middle of town only to find that your event is on the outskirts a few Km away!

        • Most family are leaving Melbourne Friday morning, when we have to work…
It's a bit of an ask asking them to come get us from Adelaide Airport after the long they drive they had the previous day.
