[QLD] Switch to Suncorp CTP Insurance before Renewing Your Rego and Get a $30 Gift Card

320

Hi guys,

My rego is up for renewal and found this deal is back up.

CTP pricing is similar across all providers, due to Queensland legislation, so if you are not with Suncorp, switch to them and get a $30 Eftpos gift card sent to you (or you can also choose to have the $30 donated to a charity). Better yet, if you are with QBE, switch between these 2 and keep getting gift cards!!!

You just need to fill the form in the link and that’s it.

When I switched over, it said “Please allow 28 days for delivery“ which I imagine start from the day of renewal.

Anyway, the nitty gritty according to the promo page:

CTP Insurance and Driver Protection Cover (DPC) are issued by AAI Limited ABN 48 005 297 807 trading as Suncorp Insurance. DPC is available on Class 1 & 6 vehicles only. DPC is not available to drivers under the age of 25. Read the DPC policy terms and conditions for full details, available at www.suncorp.com.au

Enjoy!!!

  • Thanks OP. Just remember this only works if you pay full 12 months.

    • Suncorp apparently allows 6 month renewals and I couldn’t find anywhere such requirement. It only speaks of insurance term but never mentions term length. Can you please advise where you got that info so I can update the deal? Thanks :)

If you change CTP to them the only price that shows for that deal is 12 month price. Tried doing it the other day with 6 months.

        • Might be, but wouldn’t that only be a guide? I mean, at the end of the day if you switch to them, you still have to pay using QLD TMR slip which allows you to pay for either 6 or 12 months. And again, nowhere in the site or T&C is mentioned a 12-month requirement.

        • Renewed for 6 months and got my card via regular post. 6 months can be done.

    • Then what happens if you switch, then pay for only 6 months a couple of weeks later? They don't send the card? But nowhere does it say the offer only works if you pay 12 months, so I'd probably go to the ombudsman on principle in that case.

Or do they say that somewhere I can't see?

I pay 12 months myself, but I'm curious.

PS. Funny detail in the Terms and Conditions link at the bottom is that they haven't updated the End Date from the last promotion: "The offer will end 30 June 2019"
Or is that deliberate? dun dun dah!

They don't pay you is what happens. The ombudsman will laugh in your face and tell you to get over yourself if you raised such a trivial issue. Not sure why you guys can't accept they want you to sign up for 12 months instead of 6. I realise this is ozbargain, and thrift is good, but good golly gosh let's be realistic here.

It's false advertising is what it is. There's no indication anywhere whatsoever that it is limited to 12 months. It says if you switch, you get the card. It's not a trivial issue because of the principle that advertising must be truthful, though the ACCC is the better option, I imagine.

I still don't know how you are even sure it is limited to 12 months. I can accept it; the limitation simply needs to be stated somewhere, anywhere, at the very least.

@mj7312: Perhaps you should call your local member, or get the local paper to write it up. This is an outrage, and Australia deserves better than this dammit. It's practically discrimination against an ozbargainer's rights to exploit the system. This aggression will not stand, man.

  • We never get these CTP offers in NSW ….different legislation ?

    • There are 'floor' prices set by (I can't be bothered googling) some government body that CTP insurers can't charge less than. This is their way of getting around that to try and get the business. Whatever you do, do NOT go with QBE. They are 100% scum!

        MAIC? Motor accidents insurance commission?

That would be it, trying to take a day off after yesterday's effort :) Brain's coasting in neutral today.

  • Only works for people with a QLD license (not internationals like us).

Then the next 12 months switch to QBE and they give you a $25 Westfield gift card, then every 12 months just keep switching back and forth, I have been doing this for a few years now.

    • Been doing this for a few years now. Works well.

    • QBE f**ks anyone over when you hit them though… I should know :( Hell, could be your own passenger/family you injure that get screwed over. QBE are scum!

      • but for $25 … still worth it

  • this used to be $50
i usually go for 6 months change and come back for the $50 which is now $30

  • Just swithed one of my ctp to Suncorp and got the gift card after a few days.

Suncorp also have a multiple policy discount. If you have two CTP with them and your next none-ctp insurance with Suncorp can have 15% off.

Just out of curiosity, did you renew for 6 or 12 months? Thanks :)

      • +1

I renewed for 12 months, which is a little cheaper I think ($371.70 for 6 months vs. $716.60 for 12 months)

  • how does one check which ctp they have atm?

    • Check your renewal notice :)

  • I just got mine today and I haven't renewed my rego, but I've already received the notice to renew (due in 2 weeks), it seems like you can still pay 6 months and get the $30 gift card but it's kinda pointless since paying 2x6 months is 25 dollars more expensive that 1x12 months.
