  • Stanley making power tools, I almost thought it was Dewalt at first look.

    Are these brushless motor?

Your money ultimately goes to the same shareholders. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DeWalt

DeWalt is a trade name of Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc., a subsidiary of Stanley Black & Decker.

      • I see, thanks for the info.

    • +1

If the motor used is brushless, the tool will be labelled brushless. See here for examples (move pointer over product photo for magnified view). I don't see such marking on SCA's offerings.

  • is it better to stick with ozito as they have more brushless in their range and sometimes cheap 4ah batteries ?

    • I would.

    • I agree unless you have Fatmax already

Looks the same circular saw. $88.29 on Amazon AU.
Doesnt allow me to paste the link - thinks it is referral link.

    • Also the jigsaw, which isn't on SuperCheap, for $94.94, which isn't too bad.

      • Can you give a link to the $94.94 jigsaw please? I am interested in that too.

        This jigsaw is $139.50
This jigsaw is $87.46 but runs on AC

        • Sorry…maybe it was a special price just for me.

When I click on the link in my order confirmation, it shows $139.50 now. I got it at $94.94.

Amazon is so random from one minute to the next. Maybe to create a sense of urgency.

    • This circular saw? Shows $149.99 for me.

Hint: remove everything after (and including) "/ref=" in your link.

Thanks OP…I put this stuff as mid-range…not quite as good as the top tier Makita/Milwaukee/DeWalt stuff, but certainly better than low end offerings (and better than the stablemate Black and Decker stuff). The US equivalent Porter-Cable stuff is reasonably popular. Brushless drills/drivers are very decent, and I see they have the brushless skins on special. You may find as good a deal (or better) for a kit with both brushless drill and driver though. I paid $250 for the kit with brushless driver, drill, and two batteries about a year ago.

Wife loves the reciprocal saw for pruning, and it has plenty of grunt for that. I have the circular saw, which needs to be handled carefully for thicker/harder material, but can be improved with a decent blade.

Will probably grab the angle grinder…shame that they're not in stock at any of my local stores though!

  • Considering Ryobi's price and 6yr warranty, makes it hard to bite the bullet, even at a discount.

Agree , buying any of this - really relates to/if you bought the masters kit (Or other Fatmax Cordless Products)ages ago and or have the batteries.

otherwise i would go down the Ozito, Ryobi, route and skip these altogether.

I bought the Masters on special kit - love it for the price - its worked had when needed
and very well suited to the Diy'er
So adding these to the tool kit is well worth it

      cheers

      • I didn't kick my collection off with Masters' offerings…though wish I had. They had some great prices on these. Still, I'm happy with my Fatmax collection (+ 1 ring-in Porter-Cable torch).

  • Just received my angle grinder from SuperCheap, and the signs weren't good. Dirty tape on the box where it looked like it had been opened up and repacked again. Then got the grinder out, it has marks, though nothing terminal, but certainly signs of use (or display). Doesn't seem to have all the doco (usually there's warranty stuff and whatnot, this only has the manual, loose in the box)…but worst of all, no flanges, nuts or adaptors in it for mounting a disk. WTF?! I'm pretty sure that Stanley would usually supply a cheap grinding/cutting disc with it too (all my other skins have come with blade/tool bit, aside from drills), but nothing in the box.

Pretty pissed I have to say.

Previous purchases from Supercheap have been fine. I expect this one was either floor stock, or a customer return, and sent back to the warehouse and simply re-stocked.

Otherwise, I think this would have been a nice grinder.

    • I am sorry to hear of your bad experience. Used/demo goods sold as new is sufficient ground for a full refund. Perhaps you should post this in the Angle Grinder post too to reach more purchasers.

My unit looks new. My box dated July 2018. It came with a warranty statement sandwiched between pages of the user manual, which is placed loose in the box without a plastic bag wrapper. A cardboard wraps around the side handle, which is also without a plastic wrapper. The grinder is wrapped in plastic bag and braced with a half box of cardboard. No disc was supplied. The packaging box is sealed only with sticky tapes. (In comparison, the box for the reciprocating saw is sealed with tamper-proof hot glue, the user manual and warranty statement and a spare blade are in a plastic bag, the saw cushioned with bubble wraps and braced with large quantity of folded cardboards.)

The flanges and the guard are already mounted on the grinder. The 2-pin spanner is slotted into the side handle. No disc was supplied. The guard used for cutting is an optional purchase.

  • I got mine loose manual - grinder was bagged all lock nuts supplied

    • Old stock I guess, so may be different to what I'm used to more recently with the manual/doco. My grinder was stamped 2017, and the box was stamped 2016.

Did it come with a disc as well? I have heaps so it's not a concern, but just wondering what I should have expected.

      • no discs - box = 20/06/2017 - nothing on the unit itself

        • Returned mine. Store couldn't replace, because they don't stock them, so gave me a refund.

Went onto eBay, and picked it up again, but this time with free postage and a couple of bucks off (PICKLE). If this one isn't missing bits, then win!

          • @Banj0: good to hear :) - I use AEG at work
            - I find this unit to be under powered and heavy
            - also having to keep trigger on sucks
            - I knew it would be a bit, being low end unit
but not to this extent - not going to return it as cannot afford to replace all my tools

            • @Jettblack: Ha….I was hoping that the weight was an indicator of quality! But yeah, it's not going to be up to par with pro gear.

Maybe the higher capacity batteries may help the power a little? (able to pump out more current)…not sure.
