Rumpasa.ga Is a Scam

Just wanted to put this post up as a warning. Rumpasa.ga is advertising a lot on Gumtree. They're a fairly obvious scam (the Gabon domain, games priced at 75% off retail price), but some unfortunates are still being taken in by it. I just wanted this post indexed by Google so that it'll show up when people search Rumpasa. Don't order from them.

How dare you insinuate that a developing African country such as Gabon could not provide excessive genuine savings on AAA PC title cd keys

Gabon. I'd feel confident of taking delivery of my 40ft container load of ak47s, but I have second thoughts about receiving a game from them.

    the Gabon domain

That's hilarious - who the hell would think to register a domain out of a sub-saharan African country…?

I just wanted this post indexed by Google

    That's actually genius, good thinking.

My search earlier this week brought up very little about Rumpasa. Hopefully this will show up for whoever searches next.

    Haha, Valac! 🀣
Imbicile here! 🀚… I was silly enough to make a purchase about a month ago πŸ™„ Yep, late night implulsive shopping πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ›! Panicked once I hit pay and hyperventilated for the next 10 days.. To my defence they came up under a google search for a game in amongst Amazon, EB games etc.. Requested a refund due to the invoice still being on hold, via email to them an a refund request to PayPal. Received the payment back the next day, but as the ol’ saying goes β€˜if too good to be true, it probably is’

I first heard of them when my little brother sent me a link. I couldn't even find a way to use PayPal on it. The only way I could have signed up was by writing my credit card number there!

Holy frek, the site lists its address as:

    20-22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU

Search for that address… and the news articles that come up are… interesting.

High Court orders six more bogus multi-million pound companies into liquidation
Two of the mentioned companies were registered at this address because…

It's the registered office of a business that sets up shell companies that then uses that address as their registered address, which…

Made it apparently popular for tax-minimisation companies exposed in the Paradise Papers.

    Man, that rabbit-hole went deep.

Hilarious. Why wouldn't they just have listed themselves as being a suburban restaurant. No one would have known.

  • They also come up in google searches a lot for Switch games.

  • Pay peanuts get monkeys.

Ok, and just ONE last thing - I find that searching "privacy policy" wording is useful, because it's legalese that tends to be copy and pasted a lot.

Searching for the wording of Rumpasa's privacy policy yields these identical clone sites (visit at your own risk):

www . depaked . ga (dead domain)
    www . ewiclo . ga
www . tecnovoz . xyz (this one is hilarious - some pages are in Italian, others in French…)
    www . gozted . ga

  • Just wanted to add that this little post now ranks #1 on Google for the term "Rumpasa" - beating rumpasa.ga itself.

For you, sure; not for me. That's just Google customizing your search results.

Google customizes its results depending on many factors, even if you think that you're "outsmarting" them by using incognito / private browsing, using a different device, (etc.).

Given how many times you have loaded this page (or have remained on this page, either / or), it will certainly give this result priority for you in searches. And considering your activity on OzBargain, that's a further boost.

If you're lucky, another couple of OzBargain users might be able to agree that it's the first result. For people who don't frequent this site, not so much.

      • Aw :( I thought I was so smart too! Ah well…

        • Pay for it as a google addword nd make a site about them lol

  • I have been wondering if this site was a scam.
Good to see some actual confirmation.

Thanks. I spent 6 hours reading about Gabon.

I learnt that they don't have the wealth to support a large enough number of high end PCs capable of playing AAA titles and more likely to be importing AAA titles than they would be distributing them.

I can confidently say with 80%+ certainty, that maybe, this is a scam.

    • They do have one of the best strikers in the world from there. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang :)

Well typing in Rumpasa for me showed this as the first result, so great work on that :)
