fine print… "up to 12 months of free web hosting equal to the remaining prepaid period you have with your current web hosting provider."
seems they are only offering for free what you have already paid somewhere else.

Nice pick up, needs to be in the description and not much of a deal.

Unless you have prepaid 12 months with a cheaper provider you’re unhappy with and you can get a better product through this.

      • That's not much of a deal?

    • Thanks

  • Normal price is a bit high. More than twice the price of namecheap. $107.40 vs $44.79 for a year. Oh and there's no discount for paying yearly as opposed to monthly.
So unless you are unhappy with your current host, or must use Australian servers, what's the point?

    • You can sign up and then change your primary domain to anything, so you could use this for a 2nd website

      • So they don't expect you to actually transfer to them, just show that you have signed up with someone else?

        • They had a similar deal a few months ago and I signed up then. They just asked for an invoice and then gave me login details. I was able to change everything, just as I had purchased the hosting, there was no restrictions or conditions to transfer the website shown in the invoice.

I am currently with VentraIP for a very basic consulting website. The uptime, support etc. is fantastic but feel the pinch in terms of how pricey it is, specially compared to some others. Any recommendation on others that are as reliable? Not precious about AU hosting, but need reachable support.

      zuver is the sister site

      or godaddy

      • +2

went with Zuver, all I run is a static homepage and some email accounts as it looks more professional than gmail account to have own domain, and was cheaper than the $5 pm for outlook …..
The VentraIP option was overkill for 1 person business as I don't update my web site, etc.

Used to be with Godaday a few years ago, cheap in 2nd year cost went up 10x ….. most of the hosters seem to target cheap in and then hope that 2ns year just gets renewed.

          Zoho is a nice free alternative, if you want a custom domain;

          https://www.zoho.com/mail/zohomail-pricing.html

Scroll down to the "FOREVER FREE PLAN". Decent limits for a free offering TBH.

Or you could look into buying a grandfathered Gsuite domain - always people offloading those…

I am with Ransom IT for my VPS.
Dealt with Oliver for years now and is very responsive and no downtime, if you're interested in a VPS of course.

For our small business and friends that are one man shows, these guys have been second to none. Support top notch. YMMV https://www.dreamithost.com.au/

they have good servers and responsive support. but the support team are a bit "less skilled" shall we say, needing a bit of handholding.
wouldn't recommend for one man shows, you need your own dev to take care of issues.
