  We need three tickets for decent flight.

  Are there any indecent flights?

  The only tip I can offer is, skip the third party companies and book directly with the airlines. You'll be thankful if for some reason you need to make changes to your flights.

    travel agents that specialize in airfares to the sub-continent will often have specials that aren't available with the airline directly. Could be a substantial saving.

  If you have an AmEX card, see if theres any offers that might help like:

  Spend $750 or more, get $100 back (Malaysia Airlines)

  Spend $250 get $50 back (Amex Travel)

  Maybe grab a points card and cash in on a bonus ?

  Eg Bank west has 90K points bonus right now and the card has no overseas fees.

  1. See if your credit hard provider has any sort of rewards (if you have any)
  2. See if any Australian airlines have a Codeshare agreement with the airline that will be flying. For example, maybe you can buy a qantas ticket but air india would be the actual airline you're flying on? That way you'll be collecting Qantas points. This is only good if you're already flying with one of the Australian airlines as the points won't be much.
  3. Maybe there is a cashback promotion happening. I personally haven't come across one, but I wouldn't be surprised if shopback or cashrewards offer them.

  Cashrewards, Entertainment Book etc, but the returns would be like 1-2% and the airlines might not suit India.
