    In bed with Cisco

    • What breed?

    • They are the industry leader in enterprise and service provider switching and routing.

  • Hi Rep, do you get a uni email address with free courses?

    • Thank you for your question. As an online short course, it is not eligible for a .edu.au domain student email address.

      • How about the paid short courses, seems to be like $50 ,that's cheap

        • +1

Short courses are not eligible for a student email account, regardless of whether online or face-to-face, paid or unpaid.

          • @[Deactivated]: What is the cheapest course for a .edu.au email?

            • +1

@Schema: You would need to be enrolled into a degree program. A list of degrees is available at https://www.newcastle.edu.au/degrees and information on calculating fees at https://www.newcastle.edu.au/current-students/study-essentia…. As we deal specifically with short courses, if you would like more information about degree programs, please see contact information at https://askuon.newcastle.edu.au

@[Deactivated]: Every time OP posts up a new free course, where you can learn skills that could actually help you in a career or find a job, all they get met with is a barrage of "do we get a free email address?" questions from people wanting student benefits without actually being a student.

If anyone is actually interested in pursuing a career in Information Technology, specifically switching and routing, you are going to find yourself using this tool in coursework or Cisco certifications (which you will want for the big money, trust me). So to get a headstart and get some free education on this tool is a good step forward and fantastic that the University of Newcastle is providing this.

@Schema: Not only is it the cheapest course of action to get a .edu.au email address but it actually ends up paying you.. get a job in the education sector.

              • @hey aj: I think you should get your facts 😉
Most of us here are technical enough for short courses, yes it appeals some crowd but others can't get past the deals we going get with that email address. HUp isn't exciting anymore and not everyone is interested in education sector or there are enough jobs.

Agree with you that these are the foundation of any Networking role and by all means they should.
I personally have used packet analysers extensively in Media and broadcasting.
