Just bought a Samsung Mobile phone online with Bing Lee 25th July, will be delivered 31st July, when does the warranty start day you ordered or the day it was delivered ?
Warranty when does it start?
Comments
Date on the invoice, which may be the day you ordered or the day they picked the order.
Express warranty - The date on the invoice
Implied warranty - The date you started using the product.Implied warranty - The date you started using the product.
This isn't correct. You can't put something into storage, and then expect the implied warranty to start running from when you take it out and start using it.
Of course you can, the difficulty is proving when you started the product. That's exactly what the implied warranty is there for.
For something like a phone, you might be able to prove the date of first use, with a registration email or something similar.
No, just… no. Point me to anything that says you can freeze or extend the implied warranties by not using a product.
@HighAndDry: It doesn't explicitly say that anywhere, that's why it's implied, duh.
Logic says that if you buy a new product and don't use it for a year, you can reasonably expect it to last another year.

Wtf is this logic? Things deteriorate over time even when you don't use it. It's not magically in stasis.

Sure, you probably wont have much luck claiming an implied warranty on a phone that you didn't start using for 5 years after the purchase date, but I don't see a problem with trying to claim a dead on arrival for a phone that's been sitting in the box for 2 years.
It doesn't really matter if it's been sitting on the retailers shelf or your shelf.
Implied warranty takes into account reasonable performance expectations from your purchase.
Now if you're talking about consumables, eg printer ink, you'll have a hard time claiming an implied warranty for anything past the expiry date, because that's visible at the time you bought it.
Perhaps you can take 30 seconds to review what an implied warranty is, before typing any more of your baloney here.

Please try that and report back.

Yeah, it does. One is before you buy it. One is after. Same deal if a banana rots on a Woolies shelf or on your shelf.
@HighAndDry: I have, specifically on consumer electronics (not phones) - that's why I know what I'm talking about.
Most retailers will try to fob you off, once the express warranty is expired and they'll back down once you escalate it to fair trading.
@salmon123: Ever consider they back down because they don't want to waste time dealing with people like you?
@HighAndDry: Its possible, but you clearly know nothing about implied warranties. In your world, everything stops at the express warranty.
In the real world, things don't get used the moment they walk out of the retailers door. There's a huge lag time between manufacturing and the product being used. Implied warranties protect consumers from this type of failure, where express warranties might not.
@salmon123: No… for one, they're called "Consumer guarantees" now, not implied warranties anymore.
@HighAndDry: Give yourself a pat on the back, you've figured out how to use google.
@salmon123: Keep it up, you'll get there too one day.
I had this argument with dell years ago. at the time they believe it starts when it was ordered.
For systems that are built to order, it will start from when the system is dispatched from the factory.
For pre-built systems, it might be when the order is placed.
Dell has always been pretty good about honoring implied warranties, when the express warranty is expired.
I will take a copy of the tracking details from Australia Post, which will prove the date of delivery i received the phone.
