RAM Not on QVL of MSI Motherboard

Hey all,

Trying to choose a X570 MOBO for my Ryzen 3000 build. I've narrowed it down to the Auros Pro Wifi, Strix-E Gaming or Meg Ace.
I picked up a 2x8Gb set of Ballistix 3600 c16 during the Prime sale, PN BLE2K8G4D36BEEAK, however looking at the QVLs, it is not listed on the Meg Ace QVL.
Just wanted to get some opinions on whether this is something which could indicate issues, or as it's working on most other boards I can assume that MSI simply haven't verified those DIMMS.

Leaning towards either the Auros or Meg, as if I jump to the Strix I might as well shell out for the Meg.
Prices from staticice:
Auros Pro Wifi - $439.92
Strix X570-E Gaming - $479.00
MEG X570 ACE - $549.87

Thanks!

P.S, I'm aware these boards are pretty overkill and better value options exist, I've looked extensively and happy that these offer the features I'm after.

You can contact the vendor/shop of the motherboard before purchase to ask if they know/will test.

QVL is generally a small list of hardware and some agreement between manufacturers. However I would go with a "supported" board..

  • While I doubt the RAM would have issues (it's so standardized these days and Ryzen Gen 2 has far less issues with RAM than the first gen chips), why spend more money on a board that might be incompatible, when you can spend less money on one you know will work?

  • If you do end up buying memory that is not on your motherboards QVL and encounter issues with memory compatiblity, you can use the Ryzen DRAM calculator to help you dial in "safe" timings for your memory. This isn't particularly difficult to do if you know how to follow instructions on the forums.

I had to do this with my older DDR4 3000mhz modules that weren't designed for use in Ryzen systems, it now works perfectly fine in my first-generation B350 motherboard with a 3rd gen Ryzen 7 3700x cpu.

I think contrary to the advice on here I’m going to give the meg a shot. I may live to regret it later, but who learns from others mistakes am I right ;)

    Thanks for all the help
