Rare Furry Lion King Ooshies (No.100) Sells for $100k

Saw on the news that a eBay listing of Rare Furry Simba ended up selling for $100k (yes you read that correct). Have we gone all mad for these plastic things or what! There were others recently sold for $8-10k but apparently the one sold for $100k is numbered 100/100.

Some people on Facebook posted comments about it was a marketing ploy by Woolworths (to take a jab at Coles competing Little Shop 2). So Woolworths sells and buys it (paying 10% eBay fees) to have national news about it. This gets customers into the stores to buy extra unnecessary groceries in the hunt for that rare furry Simba.

What’s your take everyone? If all is legit imagine how much 1/100 is worth! But who knows in today’s word of social media and advertising.

  • of course its real, but the person selling it has probably spent tens of thousands on grogeries to try and secure it. Look at some of the mums facebooks pages with people saying which items o buy to maximise ooshie numbers.
Have seen people constantly buying 5x soaps etc everyday for the past week or so justifying it by saying things along the line of we use it anyway and now have 5 years supply.

I’d hate to develop an allergy and not be able to use them anymore…

    • Or getting the toys then making up a reason to return the groceries.

    • You honestly believe someone spent ~$100k on a plastic toy?

      • People spend thousands on freemium games. It wouldn’t surprise me.

      • The people that gamble thousands on free games don't have that kind of money.

    • We live in a strange consumer focussed world. It’s going to shit.

A lot of them are returning their extra groceries but keeping the ooshies, so they are scamming woolies

      • woah, never even thought of that.

  • Buyer will lodge dispute soon after receiving it

"Item SNAD - not real fur, not real lion, no likeness to Simba, did not sing Hakuna Matata, no crippling (feline) daddy-issues…."

Fake news. The seller has relisted the item: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/113834899287?ViewItem=&item=1138…

  • The seller has relisted it from the looks of things.

I didn't believe it even before the above proof.
That's the problem with eBay, people can put fake bids in.

JFC, for $100k I'll go to Africa and shoot you a real furry one…

There are 100 of these made

While there are probably a million+ lion king ooshies made total made

So it should be worth a high amount - but 100k is a little too high

    People are sick

  • How do you know which ones are rare?

look at the bidding its all auto bids and fresh accounts, its just fake 100% . but to whoever and whatever think what you may I guess lol I dont know.

The person that bought it, is probably the same person that was selling it.

  • Apparently my mum has picked up one of these furry ones. What do you reckon is the best way to sell it? Ebay seems to be a waste of time with too many fake bids. Or offer it up for buy it now maybe rather than auction?

I wonder how many baby formula tins they had to buy to score this Ooshie.

I give all of mine to which ever looks to be the nicest child nearby as I leave. It's always worth the surprise and smile! :)

  • I bet all those bids are his alternative accounts and one guy just (profanity) with him…lol

Every single collectable line has some form of rare variant. Sky landers did it. pretty much every trading card series has some form of Autograph or really limited card. There’s a magic the gathering Card worth 15k. I don’t know Why people always get there knickers in a knot over these things. The thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay and if they have the money to pay and they want to pay it it’s their business.

Number 001 was cut in half on live television this morning by a Farmer who got sick of trolls baiting them, they did it for awareness and wanted to trade it for water. Personally I'd rather shop at Aldi and not have the cost of these promotions built-into the price of all of the products they sell.
