Bridgestone Potenza Tyres Buy 3 and Get 4th Free @ JAX, Bridgestone and Bob Jane

850

Woohoo, need to replace my racing slick RE003's and what great timing.
Got my set of RE003 235/45R17 @ JAX for $507 for all 4 balanced.

Offer is at JAX, Bridgestone and Bob Janes maybe others?

T&C's for all 3 companies
JAX: https://www.jaxtyres.com.au/promotions/bridgestone-potenza-4…
Bridgestone: https://www.bridgestonetyres.com.au/current-offer#terms-and-… (Game on sale)
Bob Jane: https://www.bobjane.com.au/promo/bridgestone-443-promotion-0…

EDIT2: JAX finally has a T&C's page explaining the $20 extra charge https://www.jaxtyres.com.au/promotions/bridgestone-potenza-4…
Standard charges for fitting, balancing, tubeless valve, waste tyre management fee & GST apply for the 4th tyre for all tread patterns (eg. $20).
SO please ignore the comments below, it is all above board.

Edit: On JAX don't use the total price which is higher for 4 tyres then if you multiply single price x3.
Not sure why they haven't included the deal discount if you buying 4.

Buyer beware: Do your own maths instead of looking at the total price which is wrong and make sure it's on the deal when you call up.

Ends end of August so enjoy.

    Good timing. Thanks OP!

Thanks for uploading the deal OP although Bridgestone RE003 tyres are neither slicks or semi-slicks, they are part of Bridgestone's Potenza performance road tyre range. Unlike the old RE001 which were great in the dry but horrible in the wet, the RE003s are good in both wet and dry however they are fairly noisy.

Also it's not just Bridgestone's Potenza which are buy 3 get the 4th tyre free, it's also on their Turanza Serenity Plus Ecopia car and SUV tyres as well.
Finally there's up to 80$ cashback on 4 Supercat SUV or light van tyres and up to $100 cash back on Bridgestone Dueler or Alenza SUV or 4X4 tyres.

Haha they sure do look like racing slicks when you wear them down to that level.

Hence why I was pleased there was a sale as finally ready to replace them.

Actually the ectopia deal is ending in a few days this is the new deal and only includes Potenza as I understand it.

      • +2

Was going to keyboard-warrior you for calling UHP tyres racing slicks, but then I figured you mean they were worn down haha.

        • +2

lol, I figure @munted also didnt realize this :P

    • +4

Interesting you find them noisy.. I've had three sets now and have never considered them to be a noisy tyre.

      • Id say they are probably not the quietest, but same, definitely not noisy.
Maybe its the roads, the road surface itself makes a huge difference to noise, regardless of whichever tyre you have on.

        • +1

I got S001's to replace my worn PS3's and found the new Bridgies nearly as noisy as the worn out Michelins. As the S001's got more use they got noisier. They also get more clownwheel when cold too. I will go back to Michelin when these Bridgestone tyres are ready for replacement.

          • @rodericb: I at one point wanted to try the s001 but couldn't justify it all things considered with the re003.

So I don't have experience with them but fair point.
I guess one thing to consider is that noise, like taste and many other things is subjective.
One person's noisy is another person's normal.

Unfortunately there is no try before you buy with tyres, I guess live it up for now and hope you ignore it soon

  • Damn! Mine are 215/45/17 and comes to $605.

    • I did one of their online quotes when they had a buy 3 tyres get the 4th free deal last year and the price was pretty good.
Go to the website then Stores -> Select the store -> Get quote
For Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 TL 235/45R17 97W is was $483.00 with:
      Fitting
      Wheel balancing
      Tubeless valves
      Accredited environmental scrap tyre disposal
all included from Donnellans Collingwood. I got the quote back a couple of hours after submitting, interestingly I asked in store how much it'd be but the price they gave me in person was more expensive but I brought a print out of the quote email and they did it for that online quoted price with an apology for quoting more in store.

      • Thanks. I have submitted for a quote.

    • +2

One thing I noticed on JAX, don't use their crappy pricing for 4 tyres under their single tyre price.

Use your own maths and multiply the single price x3.
seems to be some sort of con if you just order 4 tyres on the site it chargrs higher rate then 3 tyres and 1 free.

Use that and you will only pay $585 and not $605. Jerks!

ID call and book tho and make sure it's the 4 for 3 deal at $585

      • +1

Yeah I looked for mine, the details page says $485 a corner (yes I have expensive tyres) and the discount for 4 is $465…

        • you can say that again @ $485/piece haha

      • IMPORTANT: JAX finally has a T&C's page explaining the $20 extra charge https://www.jaxtyres.com.au/promotions/bridgestone-potenza-4…
Standard charges for fitting, balancing, tubeless valve, waste tyre management fee & GST apply for the 4th tyre for all tread patterns (eg. $20).

SO please ignore the comments above, it is all above board.

    • You might have a less common tyre size hence the larger cost.
Its usually safe go one width size up to a more common size - but obviously double check this with the store that this is safe to do.

    • Can’t get RE003 in the right size for my XR8. Full set of Michelin sport 4S $1800… bloody good tyre though 😂

  • Anyone in melbourne interested in a pair of tyres only and wanting to get in on this deal? Send me a pm!

    • +1

Might be helpful if you mention your tyre size.

      • You technically can buy all 3 in different sizes and prices but the free tyre would be up to the value of the cheapest of the other 3.
It shouldnt really then matter about who's what where, can easily work out between 2 parties who pays how much.

    • i am looking for 2 tyres only 215/65/R16

  • Need some 4 new Tyres for my Honda Accord Euro, are the Potenzas a solid overall tyre? Tyre size required 235/45/18 98W

    • +1

I use them on all our cars since re001 came about.
AWESOME tyre performance in the dry and wet.

Please note this is not a tyre for a taxi, if you are looking for 80,000km on a set you will be severely disappointed. Try a very reasonable and very grippy 40 to 45 thousand of hard driving.

      • RE003's are lucky to get 20k let alone 40-45k

        • +1

I'll beg to differ, while I am not that much into burnouts, driving hard wears down tyres quite well.

I may have overguessed 45k. You should be able to get 35 to 40 tho. I'm well past any thread indicators right now as we speak and it's on 45k

Im sure I could make them go in 20k but sheesh

        • I have done 31k on my RE003 on a Polo GTi, and it easily still has another 30-40% of tread left. I am confident I can get another 10k out of them.

I guess it all depends on how you drive on the roads. If you drive like a hoon/idiot on the roads, I am sure you can kill any tyres in 1k!!

    • I had S001's on my car, the got louder as they got older (although my will be way fatter then an Accords) but the grip and handling in wet and dry was good.

    • Had the same car and I would suggest you to get the 245/45/18 to safe some cash. More common size as it's the standard Commodore tyres.

  • +2

Isn't buy three get one free almost standard pricing these days? This kinda feels like OzRRP sometimes… wake me up when real competition begins and we see 35%+ savings

    • +1

No, the sale is only on between 2 and 3 times a year, which is not really all the time when you need tyres outside of those sale periods.
One can argue that you could have got them when they were on sale last time, but I didn't..

      • +1

Saying all that tho, I haven't and won't buy these outside of the 4 for 3 sales for as long as they exist.
Too good of a value to pass up and are as you say available enough throughout the year.

I will be honest, I could have easily changed them last one or 2 sales ago.. they were already worn.

    • Not for performance tyres, they're nearly always excluded

  • Same offer at Costco, although only Bridgestone stores sell Turanza Serenity Plus

    • It could be possibly similar/same as Bridgestone runs the promo and presumably makes available to other retailers too as they have in the past.

While I have gotten this deal at Costco on RE001's back in the day through my olds membership its very restrictive store to consider for many people due to A) complete and utter lack of locations and B) exclusive membership.

Even if I lived closer to Melbourne I woudnt bother getting it from Costco, purely because of the memebership. Of course this is great if you are close by and already have membership.

      • Agreed.

      • Ive found Costco costs more then Tyresales and Jax Tyres, so not worth the effort even though I have a membership

    • How much per tyre ?

      • 235/45/17 is $152 at my store including balancing, but you should ring your store to check

  • +1

Potenza Adrenaline RE003 are generally good tyres but doesn't last long (20-35k km depending on driving style and layout FWD vs RWD vs AWD). If no buy 3 get 4th for free I'd never buy them over Michelin Pilot Sport 4 which is about 20-30/per tyre difference.

    • I would love to try the PS4 but can't really find the urge to try them based on the solid and reliable performance from the RE003.

      • +1

        XBox please

      • How many KMs are you able to get from your RE003s? Mine is between 20-30k KMs. Pretty bad.

        • I am on 44,000km on this set on the nose, they could have been replaced several months ago and I deliberately neglected to not replace them to see how far i can take them, dry grip is still there.

Turns out they work fairly well around town even in the rain till I had a 120~KM trip with this set looking like slicks due to wear, in the pouring rain (highest speed wipers, for about 80km of the trip the steering wheel was not straight for any time).
Anyways after that trip I decided its time to get a new set asap, should have been changed at around 35-40k km to remain "legal" ie tread wear indicators still visible…

BTW I would strongly recommend no one drive on worn out tyres (myself included).
Dangerous AF in the wet, probably right up with with the stupidest thing you can do in a car.

Anyways, I dont know if you rotate the tyres? I rotate about once a year roughly ~8,000 - 10,000km and they wear evenly.

        • How many KM's are you getting from the PS4's? I'm wondering if the extra ~$100 total is worth it for PS4's.

  • Guys, just curious… Online tyre buying seems to be cheaper than from shops. Even Costco is cheaper. Is there any particular reason why I should go to shop?

    • where are you reffering to online?
once again, costco has some reachability but generally a useless option for majority of people who cant even set foot inside the store.

So while im waiting for your response

      https://www.tyresales.com.au/ - $190/piece for this tyre - $760
      https://www.tyresales.com.au/buy/tyre/bridgestone/potenza_ad…

These guys dont even have any
      https://www.ozzytyres.com.au/tyres/?find=235-45-17-3055

      Ill stop here

      • Nice find Bob with ozzytyres is 40% off site wide for 4 tyres if they cover your tyre.

Is there starting price reasonable or crap Bob ?

        • They do not sell Potenza tyres, or Bridgestone for that matter

      • Tyroola $163ea, $652 for 4 for the sizes you mentioned above.
        https://www.tyroola.com.au/bridgestone-potenza-adrenalin-re0…

        • So i got onto that site also for the re003 in 235/45r17 it is indeed $652 which is already almost 150 bucks more expensive but then they add insult to injury and cheapest fitment in ballarat is $104 and an extra $49 delivery for a total of $805.

That's $300 extra over a walk in shop that is several times more convenient. And im all about online purchases but sometimes it doesn't make sense.

  • Thanks OP. Could you help me with below questions?
    - Any reason why you picked JAX over Bridgestone?
    - Would you recommend RE003 too for Toyota: Tarago / Camry Altise / Corolla?

    • +3

Depends on your driving style, but for those vehicles, the Serenity Plus would better suit.

      • +2

        Bingo!

        It's all about driving style.
You can drive an old Suzuki Swift much harder then someone with an SS commodore.

The type of car is largely irrelevant, you could just as easily and safely get around town in Tornado brand tyres on your Ferrari if you putt around.

    • +2

I have been going to JAX for a long time before they were even out this far in the west of Victoria.
I am not loyal to them at all, but I go back A) because I have always had good service, nothing to complain about and B) because of point A and because Bridgestone is same price or more when I am buying tyres JAX wins my return business.

Would happily go anywhere providing the price is right on the actual tyres I want, when its the same price/service or not enough difference go to any place that your gut feel tells you is good, or reviews or the actual places.
For me, the distance to either JAX or Bridgestone is equally same, so makes no difference, only going to JAX as I have been there a long time ago and good service IMHO.

      I have had Bridgestones RE00x on 1993 Mazda 626 (15"), 05 Mitsubishi Lancer (15"), and another 2 turbo Subarus (16", 17" and 18" over years) and a Mitsubishi Magna (17").
They were great on each of them, there is good increse in grip over what was on them previously, I drive very hard when there is nothing in harms way and these really do perform in my experience.

The grip and confidence you get means you can drive as fast in the wet as you can in the dry generally speaking you should know your and your cars limit, which you of course never test on the road.
I have never felt any danger at high speed in the wet, even over standing water (tho the AWD Subaru's excel at this), there is always control.

Keep in mind the tyres on your car are the only thing holding you onto the road.
While these are excellent tyres which allow a lot of control in any situation, as pointed out are not long lasting tyres, believe 220 threadwear.

If you drive "normally" you may well be happier with longer lasting (in terms of KM) tyres. If you feel the need for speed, these are excellent tyres.

Thanks for the insight boba burgers and lonie! Appreciate it

  • This may tempt me towards RE003 over Hankook RS4 which also has a buy-3-get-1-free promotion on at the moment.

    • yeah same here man. but i've done research, RS4 people have said are better.
i have been on ad08R, so just need to pick which one now.

  • sigh, replaced my tyres last week.

if it makes you feel any better I replaced mine today …

Bob Jane has the same deal and is slightly cheaper per tyre for a couple of sizes I looked up.

    • thanks man

  • Has anyone ever used s007a? are they worth it? how does the treadwear go?

    • I have not but based on treadwear alone, its same/same as this, I think s007a is 240, the re003 is 220.

  • Wish there was such prices for motorcycle tyres, currently 2 tyres on my motorcycle costed more than this.

    • Curiosity got the better of me, do bike tyres last a lot longer then car tyres (weight/etc difference).
I know there is probably a difference between normal and performance tyres like cars, but what is your experience?

      • +1

There just isn't enough variety to choose from in motorcycles, even if you want cheap ones and don't mind the minor performance loss or reduced life much. They're all just so pricey in comparison to cars. The best bet is wreckers if you want slightly cheap ones (not big enough difference there either) and you'd be lucky to find ones matching your bike. On top of that there is tyre fitting costs, which I had to pay $100/ tyre on. Painful!

  • hi guys, if I am just after a decent tyre with good longevity, do you know which tyre is good for this purpose?

    Cheers!

    • +1

Depending on size, Serenity Plus. But the 4 for 3 offer ends 31/7/19 unless extended.

    • While I can't personally comment, my parents had 17" wheels on their golf a few years ago, came with Bridgestone Turanza's.

Dad was surprised they worked well and lasted 3 years till they sold it as not liked the car in the end.
They sold it with original tyres still could have gone on, somewhere 60k to 80k km on them. I know its a wide range but anyways…

      Your mileage may vary.

  • Is this a good tyre for a Mazda 3? The RE0003? seems like its $285 per tyre, buy 3 get the 4th free so around $850 all inclusive.
    seems expensive?

    • +1

What tyre size …. ? Unless you have sik 19" tyres I can't find any around the price point you stated.

      • My thoughts exactly, Id be checking are you on the right tyre? I am struggling to believe Mazda would be using that weird of a size on a mass sold popular "passenger car"

        • Searched for Mazda 3 sp25 2016 which comes up with 215/45R18 93W.

  • I was looking at 4* Ecopia 850's this week. 225.65.17s and found that Bob Jane were about $10 cheaper per tyre than the Bridgestone store down the road (WA). Wheel alignment was the same, $75 for the CR-V.

  • I'm no tyre expert at all, but I know I need 225/50R17 for the family sedan. Looking for something middle ground, not cheapo and not performance. Can someone recommend what ones I should choose?
