Where can I find timber bed base (single size) not slats?

  Just buy a cheap one with slat and put a sheet of MDF or chipboard on top

    Go to the back of store / receiving area. Ask for pallets…Screw them all together on top of your original slats

      Pallets are treated with a crapload of arsenic and formaldehyde to compensate for incompletely dried wood and outdoor exposure.

          @tunzafun001: Potentially but I'm not risking serious health issues by being in close proximity and indirect contact with the stuff for up to 8 hours a day.

      Could've just left it as: "Ask for pallets" and put mattress on top? Though are pallets counted as being made from slats themselves?!
