Needing Advice on Specifications for CPU Gaming

Hi guys,

I’m a beginner gamer and want to know if this is a good deal?
And is it suitable for light games like the sims?
Thank you!!!
Just in case you cant see the picture.
Here are the specs: for $999 (which is quite dear for me)
CCSYSG EVO 1650 (i5 - 9400F, GTX 1650 O4G, 8GB DD4R RAM, 240 SSD, 2TB HDD, case, Win10H)

If you guys have any other suggestions for a better deal that would be great too.

Many thanks!!!!

  • I would say this is a better build.

You didn't mention power supply which is a big factor.

    • Hi Ryanek,
How watts for the power supply would you reckon for this spec?
      Thank you

      • It's not just how many Watts you need - the quality of the PSU is also important (in terms of reliability, stability of power delivered, how much power on different rails, etc). Don't worry - while it can get complex, your build needs probably around min 400W to around 700W (overkill) in power. I'd recommend 550W to 600W for some overhead for future upgrades, and here's the PSU bible, effectively:

Aim for Tier B or better, Tier C at a stretch. If buying pre-builts however (i.e. a whole system, if you want to risk the inconvenience of having to send the computer back to the shop in case of a problem) it's not as important.

    • $1080. Is this a build for ScoMo money?

  • +1

Have you looked at the Techfast systems?
Couple of deals on at the moment.

I bought one for my kids as a first gaming PC and it's been really good. (Ryzen 5, RX580)
Cheaper components but would be a good start to build on.

    • Hi SJDR,
What is the speed of Ryzen 5, was it same as core I5 9400F?
      Thank you

      • It's a Ryzen 5 2600, I know they've changed their builds now though.
I'll let someone with more knowledge elaborate on speed/performance though.
I believe the AMD may be better suited to gaming though?

      • Ryzen 5 2600 is approx comparable to, or slightly better than the Core i5-9400F:

        https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i5-9400F-vs-AMD-R…

      • For gaming, the 9400F will be ~10% faster, depending on the game. For example, see here.

  • How expensive are the 8GB DDR4 ram?

  • Don't forget to factor in costs of your peripherals. (Monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers)

Which sims are you playing? Will you be modding it?

  • Second the Techfast AU deals on here. Their reps are pretty (very) responsive here, prices are very good for the specs, people who've bought have reported decent experiences (only issues being sometimes slow if they get a lot of orders and sometimes parts damaged in shipping which get replaced pretty much no hassles).

These are PC specs I ordered a few days ago at a good price point. Also see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hKW2EjMT04 which I coincidentally watched after ordering everything and it is very similar.
