Board Games Spring Sale on Assorted Games ($67.99 Blackout $82.99 Pandemic 10th Anniversary) + $9 Delivery @ Board Geeks

110

Hello Guys,
It’s that time of the month again for an absolute SALE! We are a locally based online store run by a bunch of friends, trying to offer competitive pricing on board games, as well as encourage people to get into the hobby. On some levels, we can’t compete with Amazon and their pricing, nor with their free shipping with prime. Unfortunately, we are simply not at the size, and based on the board game industry in Australia, we still have to acquire our stock from wholesalers.

With that in mind, please find the deals we have for July! And of course, if you have any questions, or have an order but are missing a few games you had in mind, don’t hesitate to reach us on our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/boardgeeksaus), or message me on OzBargain directly:

Thanks for posting OP but did you realize Scythe Base game has been on sale twice in the past week for $63.60 on Amazon? Good price on The Wind Gambit though!

PS. I would be very keen for a good deal on the Rise of Fenris expansion if you are able to beat Amazon.

    • Could you please provide the link to the product on Amazon? I tried having a go but I'm struggling to find the right link.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01IPUGYK6?smid=A4XRJ8S0WXSO0

It's not on sale now though, so sorta irrelevant that it's been on sale in the last week, everything is on sale all the time..

      • +3

        This offer has now expired.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/471629

I think the point AJ is trying to make is that its been on sale a few time for a much lower price recently. So the current sale price is falling short by comparison of what people may consider a sale. Hope that helps

        • Wait guys I understand the base game part, yeah the cost of acquiring the base game is much higher. Amazon cuts out the middleman, I was just wondering what price was the Rise of Fenris on Amazon at?

          • @Alzo17: I don't recall the expansion being on special actually.

At present you can grab it for $61 on amazon with free int shipment if you have prime.

@vash5: Thanks Vash, yes that was my point not on sale anymore but a whole heap of us on OzBargain picked it up and will be looking for good deals on the expansions and add-ons as they are pretty pricey for what you get (like The Wind Gambit).

If you can do a deal on the Fenris expansion OP I will pick it up, but no pressure!

          • +1

@Alzo17: Rise of Fenris is $49.99 from Games Empire. $8.99 shipping.

It's not just Amazon you'll have to compete with, there's plenty of Board Game stores that have competitive prices.

            • @yitza: Have not heard back from OP yet… patience intensifies

              • @hey aj: Whelp, it seems like Games Empire just raised their price on Rise of Fenris to $59.99. I guess you should've picked it up yesterday. =(

                • +1

@yitza: Maybe OP will come in and save the day?

    • Hey AJ,

Do you recommend the expansions or just start with the base game?

      • +2

Dicetower say the Rise of Fenris expansion is a must have if your playing with friends as it adds a campaign, co-op story, new mechanics and elements to the game as you progress that you can then use for normal games outside of a campaign. This would be the expansion I would buy first and the one that adds a lot more value to the game than any of the others.

        Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzg3NIfbaF8

Note: The Fenris expansion will also work with or without any of the other add-ons or previous expansions if you do own them.

        • +2

Amazing, thank you so much for your effort and information!

      • +1

Unfortunately Board Geeks don't have it, but Invaders from Afar (https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01L0VX6CG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp…) in my option is needed with the base game. I think it never should even have been an expansion, it should be included with the base game. The starting position for the factions is even printed on the original board. I think the game doesn't feel complete without it.

        • +2

The designer has stated that while the game was designed with potential for the expansion, the original design was only balanced for the 5 factions in the base game.

Personally, the base game factions have a lot of variability due to the modular player boards which create additional variability.

While I do have the Invaders from Afar expansion, these additional factions tend to be a little more difficult to play. For those who have played Scythe a lot, it is the first expansion I'd recommend (or the modular board), I don't consider it essential - there is a lot of game in the base box.

          • +1

@norkle: I mostly agree with what you said except that no amount of logical, well reasoned arguments will ever take away the feeling of two starting spaces that you can't play on because the pieces are missing. To me the game just feels incomplete without them.

The only thing that annoyed me more about the Scythe expansions is that all the sculpts for the airships are exactly the same in The Wind Gambit. They could have done something really cool with them, but they didn't.

  • Pandemic Legacy or Pandemic 10th anniversary?

    • +4

Pandemic 10th Anniversary is the base pandemic game, but a very deluxe version, with beautiful components, miniatures, etc.
Pandemic Legacy Season 1 takes the core mechanics of pandemic and makes it into a campaign (and trust me boy oh boy is it a good one).

So it depends, are you and 2-3 committed friends ready for a 10game ish campaign (with one playthrough), or do you want a nice deluxe game to keep and show off?

      • Yes, had the best gaming experience ever with Pandemic Legacy. Was referring to your description though of "Pandemic Legacy (10th Anniversary)"

        • +1

          HAHA (profanity) OOPS

    • Afaik there is a misprint on the 10th anniversary board where they forgot to connect Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City.

  • +1

Ahh so tempted to get the Gloomhaven expansion, but I've barely made a dent in the base game yet. People are too busy to play..

Maybe I should just solo it.

    • The neat thing about the expansion is that you can use the base or expansion for solo, and the other for paying with your friends.

  • +1

Hey OP - Can I recommend you invest some time into better pictures for your games. For example I clicked on Pandemic and had to leave your website to see what the actual game looks like.

  • +1

Hey OP, why is there 2 listings on your site for Escape Room: The Game, one for $45.99 and the other for $46.99?

Ones a duplicate. Thanks for pointing that out

      • +2

Not to be a jerk but you took away the cheaper one. Which means the game could have been had for cheaper from your own shop

        Just saying

        Edit: spelling

      • +2

Wait… so you removed the cheaper duplicate? lol…

Edit: hijupic beat me to it

  • Worth pointing out that there are two versions of Concordia Venus - the standalone base game, or the expansion. The version listed is the expansion only.

  • +1

Ehh prices seem not to amazing op. Its the sort of feeling i got when i was in melb and ultimate warewolf was $50 at every game shop i went in but like $20 everyday on amazon before i went 😂

    • -1

Well this is an Aussie small business trying to do what they can to support a hobby industry. It is a difficult juggle to supply products at discount prices when there are 100's of games released each year that may not sell.

It is hard against international players like Amazon who have the scale to flaunt labour laws and agreements, and to be able to push publishers into deep discounts, or co-mingle knock-off merchandise with authentic.

While I totally understand your experience, please treat Amazon sales as windfall events, and not something to expect of other vendors. Like everything on OB, a bargain is in the eye of the beholder. If you don't agree it's a bargain, post a link for a better deal.

PS: no relationship with Board Geeks, for all I know, they are dalmatians.

  • Blackout Hongkong (from the creator of Great Western Trail) Added for $67.99!

  • Is it possible to confirm if "Root: Riverfolk Expansion" is the 2nd or 3rd printing?
