The Hut's Misleading Advertising

They advertised these sweaters as lambswool. I bought 5 and when I got them they were described as bamboo. Contacted them a week ago about a refund, but no reply. Posted the comment below and no reply either.

Paid by paypal. Should I take it up with them to get a refund as The Hut are just ignoring me?

Animal or vegetable?
Website describes this sweater as lambswool and wool. When I open the package, the attached label says bamboo.
Which one is it?
Misleading advertising or incorrect labelling?
NOT HAPPY JAN!!!

  • If you CAN get a refund, I would suggest go for it.
I have had a horrible experience with thehut myself once something went wrong.
They might tell you to send it back to them which would cost ~$16 aud. Since that was more than the cost of my order, I didn't do it. That's how they get away with these things.
They also said they would refund me for the shipping charges but I don't trust them.

  • I did a google - look what came up

Sounds like Bamboo is a "good" thing?

  • i learn something new everyday … bamboo fabric. is it very soft?

  • Aldi have special bamboo socks- very fine fabric.

  • Bamboo or bamboo fibre is definately not wool so I would go for refund.

Plus saw llama's link on the bamboo jumper and some of the claimed benefits. Cross-checked wikipedia particularly the bit about "Bamboo fibre is naturally anti bacterial" and found (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_textiles)

[Bamboo] "contains a substance called bamboo-kun – an antimicrobial agent that gives the plant a natural resistance to pest and fungi infestation. However, the finished bamboo fabric does not retain this antibacterial property; research is being conducted whereby antibacterial agents are being added to bamboo fabric to give it antibacterial properties".

The rest of the claims (resistant to bad odours, highly breathable) I also doubt have any scientific evidence behind them.

Also (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_fiber) even casts some doubt onto its environmental credentials.

Companies will say anything to sell stuff.
