[PC, Steam] Prey 80% off - Base Game $9, Mooncrash DLC $6 @ Steam

820

Historical low on this 2 year old game.

"Space Fever" is great; so many sci-fi and astronomical discounts. I use the term space fever because a 7th grade teacher "indoctrinated" me in the poem "Sea Fever" a long time ago. Words are here: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/54932/sea-fever-56d23…
The little known composer John Ireland turned it into a lieder (art song with piano accomanimet): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoxttGAQX-E

That's a steal in my opinion. I really enjoyed Prey. Haven't jumped on the DLC yet but for that price I think I have to.

    • +1

According to Steam the DLC is only 33% positive while for the base it's 88% positive.

      • +1

Huh? Moon crash is 75% positive

      • +4

there's two dlc, one being a multiplayer (shit) dlc and the other being a roguelike dlc (good)

        • Ah righto, thanks for the correction.

Prey is a very good game that didn't get near enough praise. Definitely my GOTY for 2017, I think the intro to that game is the best intro I've ever experienced. Haven't played mooncrash but have heard good things.

$9 is a steal. Very good game as you said. It reminds me a lot of Bioshock

    • +1

Absolutely. One of those rare, rare games where the fun, difficulty, story, graphics….pretty damn much everything is perfectly balanced. Never found a part of this game that bored me or frustrated me, even if I was dying over and over. So good.

    • Loved Prey. Wasn't super into Mooncrash but most people seem to love it

      • Bought and played over the last 2 days. Nice idea, good extension of the original concept but became increasingly frustrating as character improvements are often not useful, some of the enemies are bullet sponges and handguns break after a few clips.

  • +2

    Mooncrash includes Prey: Typhon Hunter

Ie: but the two individually, not the package

PS: thank goodness for the title as I have nfi what the rest of your post is about. Tldr.

Meh, got this for $9 at EB earlier in the year (for PC).

    • +1

Thanks for sharing the love! (not)

    • +1

Same price. Both steam. No practical diff as no resale value. No point to comment.

      • Well it does have resale value because I haven't opened it yet!

  • +2

2 years old, $9 and still has Denuvo?

  • Looks good thanks OP

  • +3

Oh.. I only just 'got it' and understood that it's the 50 year anniversary of the moon landing today, hence the space themed sale.

Nice way to celebrate with MOONCRASH :D :D

Prey is an exceptional game. I would absolutely love a switch port for this.

  • +2

That is a very good steal, but for me honestly i probably won't even press play yet until 2 years later…..

I found this the hardest game to get into. I tried to enjoy it for 4 hours and haven't been back to it since. That almost never happens to me.

    • I enjoyed it but was prepared for it to be slow and not really a shooter. Most of the disapointment came from high expectations around the pre-release media and hype around how interactive the environment would be.

      • I just remember never having ammo and every enemy feeling like a boss fight. Just so frustrating.

  • Wish the DLCs were this cheap on Xbox.

Game was ok.. I guess the fun part was the physics bugs. You can throw things to move things that are too heavy to lift without the right skills.

And near the end of the game if U spacewalk through the roof, you can glitch through areas that normally have gravity, you'll clip through all the walls till you leave the space station entirely and then you get a huge surprise outside.

7th grade? While technically correct, it's generally referred to as 'year 7' here in OZ. I tell younger people it's "maths" not "math" and "bottle-o, mate" not "liquor store".

    • You must be fun at parties.

      • +2

I'm on his side, although it's really only "math" that infuriates me.

Like when people say legos. NO.

  • Bioshock in space. Remember to scan the room first ;)

  • An absolute steal at that price. Excellent game.
Bit of a learning curve at the start (and a bit of backtracking) but otherwise an excellent game.

  • +1

Bought it and have installed it. I'm six hours in, and totally enjoying it.

  • Best case scenario it becomes $4 for the deluxe edition at one of the EB games sales in a few years.. so another 75% off on this deal for those wondering.

But they will be snapped out fast so probably best to wait for this to go on $9 sale from EB games.

I am completely guessing and speculating but have seen some good deals on deluxe editions from EB games before but all definitely older games nothing within 1 to 2 years old.

  • This is included in the Xbox Game Pass for PC, for those wondering. $1 for the first month, then $5. Cancel any time.
