NEW SSD 1TB

Hi guys, I need a new SSD for my Lenovo Thinkpad, its a decent spec I7 1TB 8GB RAM however the boot up is slow as hell. I've tried running all utilities but still slow as hell so have decided a 1TB SSD is the way forward, seen a few but wanted thoughts on the best solution.

Preferably want to spend under 150 as ive sen a few offers… I have amazon prime FYI.

Seen a 960 MB that looks pretty good for 129 on amazon = 960GB Crucial BX500 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD Drive PN CT960BX500SSD1

        Right click "This PC"
        Go to "Properties"
        Go to "Advanced System Settings"
On Advanced tab, click "Settings" under the Performance.
        Click "Advanced" tab at top
Click "Change" under the Virtual Memory
Check there should be only 1 drive C: already pre-selected
        Click "No paging file"
Click "Set" Click "OK" or "Apply" whatever.
        Restart your laptop.

Should work fine with 8gb ram, shouldn't run out of memory, just don't open too many chrome tabs at once

        • Everything is fast after the 5 minute bootup LOL

          Plenty of Memory.

Just seems like an HDD issue

IL ive it a try anyways. thanks

@steveray9a: Those steps are set to only use your 8gb ram and won't use your HDD for loading temporary data "working files".

It'll speed things up for sure, including bootup times,
just make sure you won't fill up the 8gb ram coz that will prompts error or crash/kill your running program.

  • You would not get much options with less than 150. I bought 1TB Samsung 2.5" 860 QVO SATA 6Gb/s SSD PN MZ-76Q1T0BW and its working good. It is currently on some discount on ebay

  • have you checked all your start up applications?
maybe there is one that causing the bottleneck.
    Check the Services as well.

    • yeah done all that, its all rosey,
