Aus Tax Return Living in UK

I moved to the UK earlier this year and am trying to fill out my Aussie tax return

I earned income in the UK, and have had tax and 'national insurance' taken out of my pay. I'm not sure if I should be including the natinal insurance as 'foreign tax' on my tax return, or is it separate? It seems like a problem that should be google-able but i'm having no luck!

You have to report your entire gross income, so what you earned before deductions.
so if National Insurance was deducted.. you need to add it back in and then declare that amount,

    • I'm okay with that part, but I also have to declare what foreign tax I paid - should this amount include the National Insurance?

      • I don't think it should, since that will be something you would claim on your uk tax.

I would say the gross foreign income would be minus the national insurance since it's deducted from your pay.

How long are you going to stay in UK? are you still an Australian Resident for tax purposes? If not, you tax return should only be for the period you were in Australia.
