Great price and a ton of fun

OP, add to the title that this is also for Xbox One via Play Anywhere :)

      Cheers mate, done.

This edition also includes the two main DLC packs (LEGO and Fortune Island), as well as a few car packs. Pretty good price for PC I must say.

    • Fortune Island is a load of generic crap, but Lego is good. Looks like real lego bricks.

    • spewing the discount only applies to just the Ultimate Edition and not the Ultimate Edition Add-ons too (if you've already got the base game and just wanted all the extra content) :-(

Tried it with my wheel and it was almost unplayable. Definitely use a gamepad for this one. Good fun game otherwise

    • Which wheel did you use?

      • +2

        G29.

        • Had the same thing at first. Took some tweaking to make it playable.

      • +3

Eww, one of the worst games to use with a wheel!

      • +3

It's not optimised for wheels for some reason. The main Forza games work a treat, but the arcadey handling of the Horizon games aren't responsive enough for wheels.

    • I agree, initially it was unplayable (Logitech DFGT with Collective minds DriveHub adapter) because all cars whether they were front wheel drive or AWD would oversteer like I was driving an overpowered american muscle car. However, Microsoft release a patch for wheel controllers for both Forza 7 and Forza Horizon 4 and the playability improved quite a bit.

I believe this is xbox only, as PC version is still very much broken for me.

        • You're right I have the game on xbox. I assumed that the PC version would have gotten the same treatment…I guess sadly not :(

The auction house in Forza Horizon 4 is like an OzBargainer's wet dream. It's extremely satisflying to snipe and buy out cheap vehicles then selling them on for a much higher price.

Also if you're not sure you want the season pass, you can play the base game on gamepass (first month is a dollar).

    • How do you snipe the auctions in FH4?

      • Waste of me with the amount of cars the game throws at you.

      • +2

Simply bid in the last few seconds. It's normally impossible because the data doesn't update very often automatically but you can force a refresh by selecting buy out then selecting no.

      car to elaborate..
      Forza newbie ;)

If you don't have much funds to begin with, you might want to use filtering to find vehicles with cheap buy out prices rather than sniping.

And if you're buying vehicles for racing, keep in mind that the price of the vehicle may not correlate with its performance.

Not my experience. People tend to use up the cheap upgrades of free wheelspins then dump the car. So, if you want only the car, then I guess you could try. Also, a lot of last minute snipers so if your Internet speed is laggy, you will easily lose out in bidding. Waste of time in most cases.

Great price if you don't have GamePass or want to buy the base game too.
I just wish the expansions were on sale.

  • Dang, I paid the $80 for it during E3!

    • +1

      Complaining about $10..really?!

    • But think of the extra month you've had to enjoy it!

  • Good price. My son loves playing this game.

  • question : what does "ultimate edition" mean ??? because i think the next forza will be out in few months so maybe the price is too high for what it is :(

    • Expansion packs included + bonus cars (though I don't know whether you actually get the cars right away or it just means your are eligible to buy those cars in game). I've only played through GamePass (standard edition basically), I cannot get those cars even if I have the in game credits to pay for them.

      • I have the UE, they give 2 cars every week as far as I remember, super spins, unique name tag in game and few bonus points and shit, was worth the money for sure, the game is fun and looks great too.

  • Has anyone tested it with Nvidia GameStream? Forza Horizon 3 was working fine with Nvidia Shield but not the new one (tested few months back). (I know there are hacks to make it work but I want the native capability)
    Much appreciated!

As someone who got a lot of enjoyment out of Forza Horizon 3, is this one worth getting? I'm not really fussed if it's basically the same game (apart from the location), but if it's got anything that makes it different I might give it a go.

    • Id like to know too as I got bored to drive in UK pretty fast, except first time when it turned Autumn :)

Might buy H3 2nd hand somewhere in the near future.

I'm a long time Forza fan and I have to say that FH4 is pretty crap.

The music is terrible. Some of the 'challenges' are annoying as hell. The wheelspins now give you cosmetic items of clothing for your game avatar! I am not kidding. I did 15 wheelspins and 13 of those were clothing items like sunglasses and shoes!!

The menu system is quite convoluted and some of the fast travel boards require you to perform precise jumps off/onto things.

You can only change seasons if you do custom races, otherwise the seasons last a week. Too bad if you don't want to drive in the snow - wait a whole week!

On the plus side the game still looks great and the cars are still fun to drive.

Oh, the livery editor is still the same, nothing new and still broken in parts.

        • Do you have to choose your own series everytime like in FH3 or does it have more pre-made route?

          • @andigaming: You can still choose which event you want to do i.e Offroad, Street Race, Circuit etc and more unlock as you progress.

  • Would this work on Surface book with performance base? The 8gb/i7/gtx 965m 2gb specced one?

It’s a lot for me to pay for a game but at least I’ve got 14 days to think :P

The gauntlet race is fun and I’ve driven it 20 odd times with different cars on Xbox one game pass.

    • +2

I've played Forza Horizon 3 demo on the Surface book at JB Hifi and it played really well with high graphics settings. Perhaps FH4 would be similar?

      • +1

FH3 is pretty optimised IMO, Should play roughly the same and you can ways try it out with a game pass or something if you don't want to commit full price.

    • +1

There is a free demo on the Microsoft store or you can get the base game download if you pay $1 for a 1 month gamepass trial

loved forza horizon 1 2 & 3, didnt feel this one. just the same old thing all over again, just with narrow roads this time.

    • Agree. Found 1 and 3 to be really enjoyable, and from now on, I'll pay more attention to odd-numbered titles over even.

Guys, just an fyi for anyone interested in the Forza 6 complete add on collection (2 expansions, all DLC, and VIP) is on sale for $6.79 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/477105#comment-7658976

It's also the last chance to get it, since Forza 6 is reaching it's end of life status on the 15th of September, and all digital content will be permanently removed from the store on that date.

    • Thanks for that mate. If you’re up for it, it’s probably worth sharing on a separate post.

      • Yes, sorry, it has already been posted.

I gave the wrong link. Here it is
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/477105

By mistake I linked to my own comment there.

Ps. The add on pack is currently not available at any price (it's unavailable).

The deal is marked as expired, but currently it's just unavailable.

Whether it will come back at $6.79 or $30 (or the $130+ they want it for usually) is unknown.

All I know is it should be available until the 15th of September, and being a digital product it's not like they have run out.
