Where Should I Get a Wordpress Website Built?

i have just started a new business, engineering consultancy. I need to build a website, think pretty basic, 4-5 pages, no e commerce. Just main page, about us, projects, services etc. Needs to look quite good (professional) I have created logo's etc.

I like the thought of wordpress as its free & opensource, any advise where i get it built & roughtly how much i should spend, I already have hosting (ventraip) i was looking at sub $500 is this reasonable.

  • It's not too hard to learn how to build a site in wordpress. Services through websites like fiverr will advertise website builds for well under your budget. Simple sites can be around the $100 mark.

    • thanks - but will i get a good website or a pile of sh*t?

      • They have samples of their work so you can look at previous work standards alongside of reviews (for what they are worth).
A colleague was happy but in the end I just learned how to do it myself due to the constant upgrades we need to do.

  • to give everyone an idea i like the feel of nove.eu & grette.no/en/

  • Wordpress is not secure, if you want a WordPress site you have to maintain it otherwise you will be vulnerable (meaning you update it regularly). That means your time or someone else's time is wasted. If you don't want to deal with security and maintaining your hosting I'd look into services like squarespace.

And the site your explaining seems like Squarespace is the right service for you. You can even do it yourself saving you the money.

  • If you're looking at professionally made, you're looking at 2-5k from a reputable company.

  • can you drop into you cpanel, ming allowed me to install wordpress then and there. From that I just built my own pages and used the free plugins and themes, I quite liked it.

I feel if you're looking for something more professional though (custom themes) you may need a proper company, or maybe fiverr or something.

  • Use Wix. It's cheap and super easy. You don't need to "maintain" the site, ie. security updates etc. like Wordpress.

  • I'm someone who is fairly experienced with creating wordpress websites, I also think you would be better off with squarespace or wix. Both will be cheaper both short and long term than paying someone to get you going with a full wordpress site. I would normally offer to set you up for say ballpark $150 with a cookie cutter theme and "no frills included", but really unless you want to learn wordpress yourself, I would encourage looking into those alternatives.

Both of the sites you have listed are beautiful, but are using fairly unique and bespoke custom themes, conservative ballpark $5-10k to design and develop, but it depends on how much of the content would be planned/coordinated/created/edited/uploaded by the dev or by the customer.

The team at 2MM should be able to meet your req.

  • WordPress is good place to start. Buy a good template you like from thereforest. You should be able to install WordPress with on click from your cpanel login. Once WordPress installed, install the theme you purchased and load the demo data. You can edit the data easily with page builder and change images from freely available stock sites. That's it.

In terms of security, you can install free version of jetpack and also use https://wordpress.org/plugins/gotmls/ should be enough.

I can also do all the same for you in your budget

    Thanks

  • Try fiverr.

  • If you intend on getting someone else to do it for you sub $500 you'll be looking for a freelancer where you can get mixed results.

Otherwise, you can do it for free on Squarespace or another website builder.

  • One of my mates got this one done for $750ish https://jdsgroup.com.au
