[VIC] Free Ramen 16/7 @ Shujinko Express (St Collins Lane) 12-2pm First 50 Bowls

120

The first express outpost of Melbourne’s lively 24-hour ramen joint Shujinko has opened in CBD shopping hub St. Collins Lane.

To celebrate, from midday to 2pm on Tuesday, the tiny Japanese lunch spot is giving away 50 bowls of its parent’s signature tokyo-styled tonkotsu ramen.
Shujinko is a Japanese word that translates to “protagonist”, or the hero of a story, and the hero of this popular ramen is its traditional 12-hour-boiled broth, which comes with flavoursome chargrilled char siu (barbequed pork) on top.

  • That's a really small portion…

      Small portions for small bowels.

Better edit "bowels" to "bowls" in the title op, unless you're insinuating that there will be bowel issues after eating 🤣

I mean first 50 bowels ain't wrong either

  • 50 isnt much to be honest.

  • I do love me some ramen and trying a new place would be good (favourite so far in melbourne is musashi).
But man first fifty is probably gonna mean lining up for 12 o clock to hope you get one of the bowls.

Also as another poster said, is that pic in the link the actual serving size? Its like a quarter of a normal ramen bowl.

    • You can just go to Shujinko up the road from Musashi to try the ramen; open 24 hours

      • True true, im sure even if i miss this i'll try them at some point.
But FREE ramen is an extra good reason to try a new place. Especially because the last few times i have been in the city i have just defaulted to musashi. Reason being, that it's easily my favourite above the other 5 or so places i'd tried in the CBD, so kinda feel like i'd found 'my' ramen place.
So yeah free food is the way to tempt me to try a new place and maybe have a new default

        • If Shujinko Express is like Ichiban Boshi Express in Sydney, then it won’t taste as good as the original restaurant (Ichiban Boshi Express is cheaper than Ichiban Boshi a few floors above it and they use lesser quality ingredients compared to the restaurant e.g. noodles).

As a frequent visitor to Melbourne, I highly recommend Shujinko (I also like Little Ramen Bar and just tried Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen for the first time on Wednesday). A 24-hour ramen shop is never going to happen in Sydney thanks to our lockout laws 😭

@kerfuffle: Ah ok, ill have to keep that in mind and try the OG shujinko in melbourne then.

I'll definitely have to give it a go then. Little ramen bar too, as i have been meaning to go there anyway (just keep ending up closer to other places at the end of the day in the city and going to them instead).
Damn, that sucks. We already have a couple late night ramens and at least one 24 hour one, which have saved me a couple times when needing some on late nights in the city.

Thanks for the info and recommendations

  • Shujinko said on their Facebook that they ran out in ten minutes. Did anyone here manage to grab a bowl?
