      Fuxtel?

they bring out "deals" like this, and wonder why people pirate…

  • +1

Offer only available to +Rewards and Australian +Rewards members who are new Foxtel Now customers

Can we have foxtel deals banned from this website lol

    • +3

      "deals"

    • +1

I've happily been using Foxtel for over a year from a deal I found on Ozbargain.

  • +7

Even on a stable 80+mbps connection my Foxtel Now regularly buffers and occasionally logs me out altogether.
Couldn’t possibly recommend this to anybody.

    • +3

Yeah foxtel now is absolute garbage. I would demand a refund but I got it for free via telstra. Still not worth it even if it's free.

    • +3

I've had Foxtel Now since launch on Telstra 100mbit NBN with the Telstra TV 2. It has not not dropped quality or buffered once. I'd like to be able to complain about Foxtel, because their business sucks; but alas, I can't.

      • +2

        You're an anomaly.

      • I have TTV 1 and 100mbps cable and Foxtel Now works fine for the most part. Occasionally I select a program, it plays the advertisement and then comes up with an error and can't play the program, but a reboot usually fixes it. Wish the UI of the TTV1 was higher res though, it looks a bit average on a large 4k screen. Got the 24 months free Foxtel, hardly use it, would not pay for it.

      • Yeah I use my mates account and I've never had issues, even when I was on ADLS2+

    • I use foxtel now with a TTV on 17mbit ADSL2+ and it works flawlessly on the best quality.

Surely this is no value to anyone in their right mind? Very little that you can't get on another streaming service with a VPN (cheap and easy enough to use for anyone), just go month to month on them for whatever you want to watch at that time. Even if you are a slave to sport, grab Kayo for $25 a month and a Netflix or Stan or whatever.

Foxtel just has such a bridge to cross to get their price competitive with these other services that they aren't going to make it. They almost need a complete reset of their offering.

I cant wait to see Netflix acquisite Foxtel…

    • +5

You would want to acquire a growing market share not a shrinking market share:) Netflix will acquire (eliminate) Foxtel naturally at the current price point.

  • If Telstra offered data-free streaming for Foxtel, I would switch mobile carriers and sign up for Foxtel too.

I vaguely remember there being a bundle, but the data limit was something ridiculous and the monthly cost was just too much.

  • +2

You can get Netflix and Stan for a lot less than this.

    • +3

Netflix, Stan, HayU, Kayo, Fetch, Prime and still have cash left over for UberEats.

  • Yet Foxtel with an IQ4 box and no set up is $58/month for the lot.

Figure that one out Foxtel Now boffins….pay an extra $20 month for….um….less!

If Foxtel now was $25/month for everything i'd probably jump on board, but not for this much

    Its an outrage i say!

    • Really? Best I've seen (and gotten) is $89/mo for Platinum HD.

      • +1

        Yep.

The $58 deal is not comparable to Foxtel Now, as it has no HD, no Movies, no Docos, and no Kids.

The one that is most similar to Foxtel Now is $99:

        • Good point, I stand corrected. Mind you for a streaming service this should be cheaper as they don’t provide hardware

  • +3

They'll be in business textbooks one day (soon?) under the term "shooting oneself in the foot"

  • So if NBN Co actually go through with a video streaming tax, would Foxtel Now be included or excluded? Or heck, ABC iView, etc.

    • +2

Please, the LNP will make sure to have Foxtel be exempt from any taxes.

Or they will just sign over another $30 million handout of our tax so Foxtel can do something about “women’s sports”.

      • +2

No doubt in my mind that you're right lol

  • I've got all I need from foxsmell… nothing… cause I got Kayo!

    • +1

      Kayo is Foxtel

  • Thanks OP

Cheaper than what I currently pay and with a free Foxtel Now box.

I will sign up. Will need to use a different email and CC I guess to appear to be a new customer.

  • RIP Foxtel
