  • I got the no fee Coles Mastercard, I reckon it's worth it

  • We cancelled ours as we didnt think the value was there.

Now use Infinity card, and rewards are available in more places through gift cards that arent tied to Coles

    Yes. They are good.

    Cons: foreign call centre.
    foreign call centre
It is a major con, it honestly is.

Pros: currency exchange rate, no fee. So great for travelling.
Flybuys points. I am sure you can get better deals with points and you do have to offset the $99 a year fee but if you are given a platinum card then it includes purchase insurance. Search PLatnium insurance coles

I use my card for everything. I buy everything I can through it and I pay it off fast. I make $20-$30 a month in flybuys points that I will switch to velocity in the future. Previously, I just took $10 off a shop.

    • I use mine exactly the same with big purchases like rego, insurance etc. done with the CC to get those extra points. It's also very good for fuel as you'll get 2 flybuys per $1 compared to Coles Express that'll do 1 point per $2.

      Cons: foreign call centre.

This so much. In the year or so I've had it they've only cold called me twice to try and get me to up my limit or get other Coles services.

      • I don't think you get points any more for government type bills payments like rego, rates, australia post payments, etc.
They removed the points for those payments a while ago.

        • That's what I heard too but I still got points for my rego.

          • @Clear: That is good. How do you pay for it (post office, online, transport dept)?
What about council rates and water bill? Do you get points for those too?

            • @Mad Max: I pay it off with BPAY. Council also gives me points.

              • @Clear: Coles Mastercard no longer gives points for Bpay payments "BPAY® transactions will no longer be eligible to earn flybuys points from 13 October 2016"

                • @Mad Max: I thought you meant the CC itself sorry.

                  • @Clear: Ah ok, so you are not using a Coles Mastercard credit card.

    • They dont seem to offer that anymore - only the low rate/fee card or rewards card without the purchase insurance

It depends on how you are going to use it. For me, it is worth every penny, why?

No FX fee is a big plus when spending overseas or in foreign currencies, and I am using it a lot for online shopping and travelling.

Cover Plus feature is the most useful one (no longer available to new applications). It is a price protection for 2 years.

~ 1 velocity pt / $1 spend transfer to Velocity when they have 15% promotion.

    And travel insurance.

    may give it a miss
Without the purchase protection and free delivery like it used to have
Not sure the ongoing value is there with that $99fee

    • The value is that you get $250 up front in discounts at Coles, or gift cards or transfer into velocity.

You don't need to keep it after the first year, but why not take it for a spin for a year and see if it is really worth it?

I don't have the card, But it would be worth for me I reckon given that I spend roughly $200 a week at Coles and around $60-70 at Coles Express every two weeks.

If you tend to spread your shopping around, don't like velocity points, or using your points of Coles Group (or Ebay) stuff, then avoid.

  • What do you mean by "worth it"? It depends on a whole host of different variables including what your spending pattern is like, how valuable the rewards program is for you, whether it offers the perks that you want…etc.

  • I've had a Coles Platinum since they came out.

When I had the ex-wife on it it was very much worth it as she spent (her own) money as if the world was going to end. Usual combined monthly spend was $6k-8k.

I run it on my own now and put everything on it. I also have it linked to ebay, GIO, GF's AGL account and whatever else points booster I can. Usual spend now is $2k-$3k. I seem to earn points quicker than I can spend them.

It would be really good if you could pay the yearly fee with points.

I'll admit that I haven't bothered to look for alternatives.
