American Express Golden Referral Reward of 200k Points | Got 40k Points

Last month, Amex had a golden referral program where the referrer got 200k points.

I got that email and referred a friend during the promotion period, except made a mistake. As per email I had to use the referral link in that email(golden link) but I gave him my normal referral link.

The only difference in the links was a query parameter ? CPID something

Amex gave me regular 40k points instead of 200k. I raised it with Amex and they checked and said promotion terms not met.

Any suggestions or experience if Amex would help.

Got normal points instead of special points. :-) Any way to convince amex to give me those extra points. (Just thinking, referral was during the promotion and their marketing objective was achieved.)

    I've never heard of a golden referral before.

      250k points on the amex platinum. Lower tier cards slightly lower points

    No obligation for them to give you the points but no harm giving them a call and asking

    Are you at least a platinum card holder and have you held it for a few years?

    If you can access concierge, they'll be more amenable to your situation and usually do something to make up for it…
