  • That's cheap as chips. Last time I got Pepe's they were better than the Luv a ducks.

Not true. Red Rock chips on sale for $2.24 starting Wednesday!

$2.24 per 165 grams works out to $13.57 a kg. You're right, it's not true. Duck is cheaper than chips!

    • Last time I got Pepe's they were better than the Luv a ducks.

      How so?

      • The Pepe's is a 1.7kg duck whereas the Luvaduck's are 2.2kgs. The most likely reason for the weight difference seems to either be that the ducks are younger, fed differently, or a different breed. I've filled my chest freezer 3 times with Coles' Luv a duck half price sales in the last 12 months, which is about 80 ducks. Woolies had half priced Pepe's twice in that time and I've bought and cooked about 20. I prefer the flavour, texture and juiciness of the Pepes, and the skin is usually in better condition than the often beaten up Luv a duck. The last two batches of Luv a ducks I've bought have seemed like seconds.

        • Interesting! 80 ducks? In 12 months? You're having more than once a week? How do you cook them?

          • @dust: Two most weeks, yeah. I mostly roast them, but sometimes I pan fry the breasts and confit the legs, or slow cook the whole duck.

@GhostofB: Have you seen the undercover footage from Luv A Duck? It came out last year.

The dark TimTams are so good. Glad they're frequently on sale

I read this as "Duck TimTams"…

  • What's going on with Red Rock? They used to be consistently expensive now they're on special every week… Have they pulled a Pringles?

    • PRINGLES - heavens forbid.

This Friday's family dinner dish is Roast Duck!

  • The duck is out of stock in all of Sydney! Bollocks.

    • Most likely in-store only.

Might be worth getting a rain check, if it isn't available at your local store.

      • Woolworths now has a stock checker feature for stores in each product page, and I cant see any stock there. Unless its broken?

        • Most likely broken/not updated, best to check at your local store.

          • @RichardL: Yep seems like their stock on hand isn't being updated since I know my local woolies is packed with 20+.
