That's a good deal. I'd suggest going into the store and trying one on first though. The fit can be a bit weird.

    • I wish I waited for your comment. Bought one based on OP’s post. Could’ve saved $15.
Not worth $15 for my to muck around with returns.

I don’t usually make mistakes like that.

    • Legend, thanks mate!

Check overlay design is…. different ;).

What do you mean O.o ?
Are you talking about ebay one?
Because I am thinking to go with eBay rather than in-store.

      • Umm… the picture above. The checkered/flannel look.

    Damn it’s ugly

    • +1

      The black looks okay IMHO

Would still take the macpac halo imo. I don't buy Kathmandu unless it's at least 7o% off

    • Does Kathmandu gives 70% FLAT?
Which month or any fixed day?

    • I don't even take that… I'm a Macpac Ember person

  • How does this compare to macpac halo filled down?

    • +2

I tried on the Macpac halo down aswell. It was warm, but it was so damn wrinkled up in the store that I decided not to buy it. It is cheaper than the kathmandu down jacket.

Halo down jacket is on sale for $120 and hood one for $150.
Have been on sale for $99 and $125 earlier this year and is better quality.

    • Where on sale?

      • It is on sale for $120 atm.

  • +1

Ah the standard jacket to wear when going to Chadstone to look like 70% of the people there

    • Ah the standard jacket to wear when going around Melbourne to look like 70% of the people there

      FTFY

Haha true, but it's comfortable and keeps you warm though.

    • +2

Did you stop to think for a second why they're so popular? They weight nothing, they're comfortable, and they're really warm. They also have lined and BIG pockets.

    lol hipster hunting jacket? haha

    • +1

With their 550 fill ratings lol…

Come back when you're at 760+

I had one of these, but then got a Patagonia Down Sweater. 800 fill goose down makes it much warmer, while also being so much thinner and lighter. I got mine on sale for $199. Sooo worth it.

    • Patagonia Nano Air Hoody are amazing.

      https://www.patagonia.com.au/products/mens-nano-air-hoody

    • Where did you buy it?

      • I bought mine from a Patagonia Outlet store, but I bought another for my wife straight from their website. It was a sale price; normally it's $350.

        • Thats really a good price.

  • Kathmandu is comparable to Aldi.

    Good brands are:
    Patagonia
    The North Face
    Mountain Hardwear
    Mammut
    Black Diamond

Kathmandu is about 5 X better than Aldi lol.. Aldi isn't good at all, along with Uniqlo.
Atleast with Kathmandu you're getting 550 down and over 250g unlike Aldi.
You're also getting hem ties and quantum pertex. That alone is worth 1000x more than Aldi.

You'd be better off with a Macpac or Kathmandu than Aldi and Uniqlo.

To be fair this epiq jacket would be good for most people! It won't make you dripping with sweat when walking unlike the other brands will with higher fill.
I have a 760 fill Macpac and when walking through a shopping centre you start to cook and drip with sweat, it's far too warm even to use in 15 degree weather and walking, after 5 minutes you'll remove it.

The brands you mentioned below all have good items however, you'll cook in most of them.

Another great brand is Feathered Friends

      • I really like my 800-fill jacket from Patagonia because it's far lighter and just as warm as the 550-fill from Kathmandu. So even if I've moved indoors and start to feel hot, I can easily remove it, turn it into a ball (it's designed to do that) and shove it in my bag. It's so lightweight it feels like nothing.

  • What is better hood or no hood?

    • +1

Only the jacket without the hood is on sale for $149. The hooded jacket is $179.

The hooded jacket is better I guess if you're in really cold weather and want to keep your ears warm. But I didn't like the bulk of a hood hanging in the back. You can get the one without the hood and wear a beanie aswell. It's personal preference.

  • Thanks OP bought one
Now I can go to Melbourne and look the same as everyone there
