Looking for a New Laptop for Study and Some Games (Budget $1,700)

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a new laptop that I can use mainly for studying and that can run classic games that I want to play every now and then like Half-life, FFVI, Portal, etc. I already have a PS4 so I don't intend to play highly graphical games. My budget is around $1, 700. I had an Acer laptop in the past but it broke down easily so I'm not looking for anything Acer. I was considering an 81LK003QAU IdeaPad L340 (15) Gaming laptop as it caught my eye, but there haven't been any reviews so I'm unsure if it's a good investment. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Thank you in advance.

Laptop for games and some study, eh?

  • Do you want portability in the laptop? Any gaming option eliminates its portability.

I would recommend either a combo of a desktop and laptop, or a laptop with an eGPU.

    • Yeah, I would want portability in the laptop. I can do most of my course work at home online but in case I go on any trips, portability would be helpful.

A combo? I'm not particularly rich as a student. The latter may work. It doesn't have to be a top notch, highest quality gaming computer as I have a PS4 for those games.

A laptop is a depreciating asset, you should never consider it a good investment.

  • What size laptop are you after?
