LEGO 71043 Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle $503.76 Delivered @ Hobby Warehouse eBay

740
PLUTO

Been chasing down the Harry Potter Castle for some time, and with the ebay PLUTO 20% off it is finally at an alright price, bringing it to $503.76 delivered. Sellers price is $629.70 which is already $20 below retail.

I imagine eBay gift cards could be used to reduce further.

Shout out to Mickoja for the idea with the post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/468594

    Shame on its micro scale

    • +3

I mean, would you pay $5k for a minifig scale one?

      • You could buy all the minfig scale sets and join them together…

The sets are designed to join and have holes at the sides for connector pins.

You could even buy multiples, for example, two Hogwarts great halls joined to make a fully enclosed building. Or extra Whomping Willow sets to fill out more of the Hogwarts grounds.

Great but I really want it cheaper hehehe

      • Apparently lepin has been shutdown for now. Might be some stock of this set around.

        • are you sure? any source? https://brickset.com/article/43475/police-raid-lepin-factory…

hmm i wish they are still exist

            @CyberMurning: If you're a true LEGO fan you wouldn't.

Lepin isn't really a "same thing but cheaper" knockoff: it uses inferior plastic and production techniques with resulting poorer "clutch power" — the mechanism that lets bricks hold together. The appearance and colour is also inferior.

Even if you're willing to overlook this, the IP theft is quite damaging to the LEGO culture. It lowers expectations to just another cheap plastic toy, instead of crisp bags of pure joy.

  • This is just getting insane…

I'm not a lego fan and don't want to start!

    • Maybe you have a secret desire to start cause you have found yourself in the thread : )

If Harry Potter is so magical how come he can't fix his own eyesight ?

    • maybe the source of his power comes from his glasses! — hush hush this is super secret info

    • He wears glasses to look cute

This must be for the admittedly sizeable portion of OzBargainers earning $120k+ pa.

To be fair, while I find spending $500 on Lego to be stupid, I'm sure lots of people would look at things I've spent $500 on and think the exact same thing. Hobbies are a funny thing.

At this price tag, only for fans. My kiddo loves HP but price wise it's like star wars now…

    • This set is for adults (or rich kids), the Great Hall set is $120ish and comes with more figures for play.

  • +1

for that price i would want 1:1 scale

Thanks I've been looking for one of these the last few days. I don't own any Lego sets but the level of detail on this is outstanding. Easily justified as a combined Birthday and Xmas present from family. Something that will be kept for life.

  • Lol 22 sold in 18 hours, 11 since this deal was posted.

And yet some people worry we are in recession stage… lol

      • +1

Maybe the sign of a good economy would have been 40 sold in 18 hours? =)

        • +4

And 50 sold now. Ammmmmmazing how $25,000 flies so easily

  • +2

I didn't know that Tormund Giantsbane was a Gryffindor

    Edit: Last one…

Now sold out! but also available on toysrus_au Ebay with same discount code for $507.12.

  • Anyone recieve an email stating warehouse is out of stock? I was offered opportunity to wait for more stock or take a refund, I am waiting…

    • Nope. But both eBay and Hobby-warehouse sent me an "it's on its way" email on Monday morning. However Aus Post tracking shows its still sitting at "Shipping information approved by Australia Post". The item hasn't even been picked up yet. When I purchased on the Sunday the listing gave an ETA of Monday 15th which simply is going to happen now given I'm on the West coast. I sense some negative feedback coming. The listing should have said "on back-order".

      • Disregard the above post.
The item is showing in Perth today, so should be delivered a business day early tomorrow.
It looks like they've used a different type of Aus Post service which doesn't give anywhere near as many updates.
