this deal is usb powered, you need to use an external power supply with the link you posted.

        • why do you bothered getting external hard drives then? get an internal hd, sooooooooo much faster and cheaper.

And I think 2litre bottles of coke are better than 600ml. Horses for courses….

BTW HN and goodguys sell the samsung 1TB portable drives for $99

        • …"though i am all about cloud…" Yeah, really? What type? Cirrocumulus, Cirrus or big fat ol' Cumulonimbus?…. pfft.. twat! Its a good deal and if you knew what you were actually talking about you would recognise the difference between drives.

    • it is 2.5"

Saw yesterday… Big W has 1 tb and 2 tb for good prices. off the top of my head the 2 was 108 and the one tb much less.

    • +1

Different model, stop comparing big bulky hard drives with this one that fits in your back pocket.

    • +3

sigh.. read properly, it's 2.5", not bulky 3.5"

      • +4

Yup, as long as there are sales on HDD there will be people who can't tell the difference between them. We should start sin binning the ones who vote neg who clearly can't comprehend what's on offer.

Stop baging ignorant consumers - they're very important in the marketplace.

To you maybe, and make the comment, but a negative vote is a bit over the top. Imposing your opinion over the opportunity for others to make an assessment.

Negative votes work to hide a deal. They were designed to take deals off the main page that had something fundamentally wrong with the deal.

Given that some may decide that the saving is worth the wait, why be part of stopping them doing so?

Personally I would think the savings is worth the wait, or the issue with warranty return, and I am wiling to point that out, and refrain from voting positive, which in itself indicates to others that the deal doesnt have merit.

It does include shipping which all other deals are pickup. Someone outside the main cities or near a local store now have a cheaper option. NOT everyone here lives in an Urban area. Be fair to them please.

Maybe a complete read of the negative vote guidelines, why and what it does, might assist

Skystar just negative according to his opinions and thoughts.

I think a bargain should be
        1. something that is valueable to you
        2. price is at least 15% off cheapest in market
        3. you have a fair chance to access the bargain

    • no one is selling less then $119

  • Whats with the negativity… these are not the same as the desktop hard drives, these are notebook disks and thus more expensive.

If you want to carry around a power supply and significantly bigger/heavier hard disk, sure get a 2Tb disk from Big W/Officeworks for cheaper.

AUD 95.92 shipped. I can buy the OEM version of this 2.5' WD external drive from a computer store here in Sydney for $99. So hardly a bargain to save $3.08 and having to wait 2 or more weeks for delivery.

u forgot to mention a external usb casing for your oem hard drive is about $40

      • He did mention it was an external drive already.

      • He probably already has a casing lol. But yeah once you got one your set to swap to the next larger size when the price is right. Plus I think you can get cases for cheaper than $40.

Good deal though if you can't wait, but cos this is USB 2.0 so should get cheaper with the 3.0 priced at $130 right now and hopefully someone will do better soon! =)

      • Its already assembled in an external case. Exactly the same as the boxed product. As I said I can get this external drive for. $100 its axactly the same external drive without the retail packaging.

Also found it listed at another shop

WD WDBABV0010BBK Elements SE 1TB portable HDD $100
        Seagate Expansion 1TB 2.5" Portable Drive $100

        • Price plus postage…. not everyone lives in Carlingford or close to OW or HardlyN

Ozpete, what about cost associated with shipping item for DOA/warranty? Shouldn't that be a "total cost" considerastion?

      • Katsuya

        sigh.. read properly

I fear Another case of misreading someones post

    • +1

Yes you have to wait for delivery….but then again it is delivered to your door anywhere in Australia from Amazon price.

  • Here's a direct comparison from an aussie retailer for the same product;

One of the most frustrating comment threads to read through.

  • Cool price. I'm kinda waiting for the smaller 1TB Oyen Digital to come down to sub $100 price range though.
