Nod 2.0 Travel Pillow from Zdoze US $40 for 2, US $45 for 3 (RRP US $40ea) @ Sleep Upright

80

Okay not totally sure if this is a "ozbargain deal", so two disclaimers:

1) I'm not sure if it's a sale or the website just reduces the price on purchase of more than one.

2) I'm assuming that since this product was on news.com.au in 2016 saying you could pre-order then for October delivery, that this item is no longer under pre-order and now available for immediate delivery. Found on ozbargain > kickstarter > zdoze > redirects to https://www.sleepupright.com/ . They ship immediately with FedEx (within days of order). From experience FedEx from US ships fast, I always received it within 8-10 days.

I was shopping for travel pillows and found this one recommended on a comment here:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/279509.

Found it on eBay for $75, Amazon for $40 USD but they don't ship to Australia, so I went to the original website and they seem to have reduced the price by quite a bit if you get 2 or 3 pillows.

Rrp of the pillow is $40 USD, which is rip off high, but it's a memory foam pillow and allows you to sleep upright on planes and other transport with head rests so that's pretty cool. Worth it if you buy 2 or more I reckon.

Also is relatively small compared to other travel pillows, so doesn't waste space luggage.

Feel free to add your critique or additional info, I just bought 3 so I'm doomed if these don't deliver :(.

Edit: I've sent an email to the creator via her kickstarter page and fb Messenger to confirm delivery. Will update once I get an answer! updated above!

Also, shipping reduces to zero and that seems like a bargain too. When I was chatting with the manufacturer, she mentioned postage to Europe costs $60. And I think the site says international postage costs $5+.

Contacted creator again, mines been shipped out despite not receiving any confirmation. She just told me its untracked so no notification was sent.

  • Might be a bit awkward on a long-haul flight trying to explain to the person behind you why there's a big ass strap draped across their movie.

I'm pretty sure I saw that you can use the string around the screen haha! Otherwise yes, that's grounds for getting kicked in your chair 😂. You can also have the string around the inner headrest, if your flight has one.

If not, they won't get this movie experience anywhere else, it's invaluable!

      • +1

Haha ok I should've done more research - I didn't think of the little inner headrest that usually has those side wing things.
        Not a bad idea so!

It's okay, your comment gave me a chuckle. If you watch this, the first few seconds shows the string around the screen, then later they move it down

but I've seen photos that show this being wrapped around the screens edges then back round the front of chair, so that works too.

I guess how you use it depends on how much you hate the people behind you ;).

  • Link won't load for me do you need a VPN?

    • Really? Nope, I didn't use one for my purchase. Link is: https://www.sleepupright.com/

Although please read the post before buying, I'm not sure if it's an item that will be delivered asap or otherwise. So potentially not a great idea if you need it soon, like myself.

      Awaiting reply from maker.

  • I believe there are pillows with neck support and front hold that could be more comfortable. Problem with this is it doesn't cushion your head/neck and some of those airline head pads are as hard as thick cardboard (probably what they're made from…).

    • I always hated the head pads in airplanes because they pushed your head too far forward, which is only really desirable when in bed with gravity working for you.

I reckon leaning forward, you'd be a distance from the head pads so that your head isn't pushing on them so much. But only use will tell.

Feel free to link any better alternatives if you find any :)

      • Good points!

I have the Cabeau as well - it's ok but I find they get too hot and feel a bit bulky around the neck. It's a tricky ask getting something that will make you feel comfortable, whilst sitting upright in a crappy eco airline seat. Ugh.

Edit: there's a Cabeau s3 that looks pretty good. However they are exy…

bought Cabeau from tkmax for 29, very good pillows. I honestly don't think this would work. I guess when you nod a bit then your head would slip out of it?

    • Thanks, will check this out too! Looks very supportive. Wish I waited for responses before buying.

I wanted to get a memory foam one but didn't want the bulkiness, weight and potential of it pushing my head too forward with the extra bulk memory foam at the back. But I guess airlines let you take it on as "small item" so it should be fine.

    • The creator told me she's made an og version and this one is the updated one, she hadn't received feedback saying anyones head slipped out, yet haha..

      • +1

that's cool, I've been using muji's travel pillow for 2 years, but I always use it like this nod one, It's definitely a lifesaver if it can hold your head upright

Ordered let's see how it works…

If you don't reply I'll assume you're still sleeping from this pillow.

I ordered 3, going back to Europe soon and had flashbacks to my last overseas flight and the level of pain in my neck after! Don't like the around the neck solutions, plus they take up too much space. If this works I'm going to be so happy :) if not… well only out $20AUD a unit, not a bad gamble for the possible value it'd bring!

    • My exact thoughts, though I've only experienced discomfort, not pain from the round the neck ones. Really hoping these work! :)

      • should have clarified, yes pain with nothing, discomfort with the around the neck ones plus take up too much space in luggage.

Thanks for posting the deal, looks like a great find!

        • Nws mate!

        • Has yours been shipped yet? Nothing on my end yet :(

          • @Bargainbeth: I got an email to say "Order Status Changed" - Awaiting Shipment, with an itemised list of what is to be shipped (x3 nod 2.0's), but no tracking as of yet

            • +1

@camshandez: Oh, tried to delete my comment haha, contacted the creator shortly after, and she said mines been shipped, and that is not tracked. So likely yours has too!

  • I usually fly with flat bed seats provided, would this benefit me?

    • Be fancy and use it as an expensive eye mask?
