I checked their store in Elizabeth Street, Melbourne and games like Marvel vs Capcom 3 are selling for $50.50.
xx hero line is now canned, so there won't be any more new games coming out, no point buying.

As Schnell said, this is not the case. But even if it was true, how would the franchise being canned mean there was 'no point buying'? If anything, it would give you more reason to buy because you know it won't be superseded by a new game in a few months time.
This all happened in February of this year, where activision put the DJ Hero series on hold for the foreseeable future. Certainly this means there will be no more DJ hero games this year, and possibly forever, as Activision shifts it's focus to other game series.

They are still providing support for their products and will still be releasing DLC content for games.
