  • These kinds of procrastination books are utter rubbish. They teach you stuff that you may or may not know but it doesn't matter. It's just utter rubbish.

There is no one book on earth that can fix your procrastination because none of them are any good. Read as many neuroscienve, behaviour, dopamine and addiction research articles as I have and you'll find the answer. You won't get what I know from this book.

In order to fix procrastination, you need a clear understanding of at least 5-6 key topics and an approach to integrate them into your life. I have what works for me. You would have to find how to make it work for you.

    • +5

Well don't leave us hanging! What're the topics?

      • +2

Here's some questions to get you looking in the right direction.

How can you make yourself want something more as the difficulty increases?

How do you know you are going to get results? What makes you so sure?

How do you make someone chase something and never give up?

What's better than something you've been expecting?

If you get to a stage where you say "yes!" Or "wooohoo!" often, your on your way.

        • +4

Soooo … you don't actually have the answer?

@alphaai: Can you give me some suggestion of good books?

        • +1

You should write a book about this :-)

    • +1

sounds difficult. And even harder to bother with for someone who needs it.

    • Thank you for sharing! I'm really interested in this topic! Could you suggest articles, journal articles and books please.

    • +2

For me, the simple thing that finally got me to stop procrastinating, after reading so many books on getting things done, was learning about executive functioning. And then I discovered mine was impaired. For many people with chronic procrastination problems, this is going to be the case. It was like a light bulb went off. And then I set about doing what people with impaired executive functioning have to do to get shit done. And it worked.

Just a tip folks, if you're really really bad with getting your shit together, you might have a deeper issue than "laziness".

      • Hey mate, thank you for sharing!

What articles, journal articles and books do you recommend about getting things done and executive functioning?

  • +2

I have a few of these procrastination books from other giveaways.

    Still haven't read one.

  • +8

If anyone is interested, I recommend reading 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg. I think these '30 page life changing e-books' are preposterous. Read a proper book which gives you time to think, and a chance to introspect to get to the root of the problem.

    • +1

Atomic Habits is also very good

      • +1

I also rate atomic habits. Two thumbs up

      • -2

But how can we see them if they're atomic sized?

    • Is it like 7 Habits of Highly Effective People?

  • +1

    Procrastinate later!

  • "To buy this title from Amazon.com.au, please update your default Kindle Store to Amazon.com.au "

    sigh…..

edit: No worries it's the same price on amazon.com. :)

These free eBooks are all utter rubbish.

Just because something is free, doesn’t mean it’s a bargain. Otherwise we’d be posting Wikipedia articles as “bargains” every day.

    • +1

Right?! You'd never upvote a free blog post. They rebadge it to an "ebook" and suddenly it's a deal.

  • +1

I'm meant to be working but i'll read this

  • Thanks

  • +1

I highly recommend this multi-part article about procrastination: https://waitbutwhy.com/2013/10/why-procrastinators-procrasti…

It's a long read but a fun one and well worth the effort.

  • OK, this is "free", but the website says…
Try 30 days FREE – pay later - By clicking the button above, you agree to the Kindle Unlimited Terms of Use. You authorise us to charge your 1-Click credit card or another available credit card on file with us $13.99 per month until you cancel. You may cancel your subscription at any time by visiting www.amazon.com.au/kucentral.
So if you really are a procrastinator, you could get suckered into an ongoing credit card debit.
That's why I'm downvoting this deal. And I'm doing it NOW!

    • You have to press the second button to get it free without a subscription.

It’s not entirely clear, but that’s Amazon’s business model.

      • The second button says "buy now with 1-click for $3.99".

        • That’s changed in the last hour. It was previously “Buy Now For $0.00”.

          So the deal has expired.
