Looking for Bose QuietComfort 15

As the title says, I'm looking for the Bose QuietComfort 15. Retainers here seems to sell it at RRP of $499. This is about $200 more than the price in US. I'm not looking to import one in from US but the best deal I can get in Sydney.

Thanks

  • Sorry but none of the usual chanels (minidisc, headphonics, wicked digital) have it. Cheapest I found it for is it's RRP of $499. Not many specialists are fans of Bose headphones/earphones (high price and not that great SQ for the price)

    • have to agree that they are overpriced with not the best sound.

  • got a pair in hong kong at the start of the year.. paid 380 aud.. most likely get it cheaper from american..
just want to let u know.. its the best investment ive ever made.. and i absolutely love the headphones. your making the right choice by not selecting the beats by dr dre

  • Bose used to be good but now that they've gone mainstream and "branded" only retails like Myers and Apple stock them.
Kinda like Ultimate Ears (ever since they got taken over by Logitech).

Specialist stores used to carry all sorts of UE products but ever since Logitech came in and ruined everything, the stores dropped their range of UE because of the high price and drop in SQ. The new products don't fit in with the consumers they're tareting.
Same goes for Bose, no one with good knowledge of what's on offer automatically think of Bose for their audio gear (speakers maybe, but not headphones, Bose actually jumped into headphones from speakers hoping to make a buck with their name). Combine that with the small Australian market, there is no reason why specialist retailers would go for overpriced merchandise with poor SQ (okay not poor, but for what it costs there are heaps better options out there like AudioTechnica for noise cancelling, off the top of my head), hence there isn't any cheap Bose products in Aus, simple as that.
You'd be looking at stores like Apple and Myer (and they charge RRP, unless they have a sale, but usally with Bose they're excempt from the sales IIRC) who want to make the customer think that they're buying a "premium" product that's actually worth the $500 to actually find any stock of these things.

  • What's a good quality noise cancelling headphones apart from Bose?

  • I bought mine from Saks fifth ave, when they had 20% off storewide, it ended up to be US$240 + tax, and had it shipped to a US Mail forwarder.
Arrived in Australia for prob AU$300 or so.
