Need to Upgrade My Audio Head Unit on 2015 Toyota Corolla

Hi

I need to upgrade my 2015 Toyota Corolla hatch audio head unit.

I am looking for following service

1) Replacing audio unit as i want a Apple CarPlay and reversing camera. I am thinking of getting Pioneer AVH-Z5250BT 6.8" Apple CarPlay.
2) Adding fog lights and daylight driving light.

Can someone please advise how much would it cost to get these things fitted in the car and would appreciate if someone can suggest where I can get this done.

I am in Brisbane.

Kind Regards

prince

Call up an auto electrician and say the exact same thing you just typed here. They will give a quote.

  • adding fog lights and daylight driving light.

    Pointless

    • can you elaborate a bit more mate

      • Fog lights are used so rarely it's not funny

DRL's will look tacky when just doing an aftermarket LED strip and for what, a minor bit of light on the front? Trust me, no one has been in an accident because they didn't have DRLs. Turn your headlights on at the right time and conditions, use park lights when it's foggy

        • yes i think you are right you have now made me think
          appreciated

  • Why do you specifically need CarPlay? The car has bluetooth for Spotify etc. If you need maps, just use a phone mount.

There, saved you ~$500 + install

    • no my car has just the bluetooth but no reverse sensor or camera and as my wife is going to use this car I am afraid of her reverse parking skills.:)

      it is Ascent 02/15

Or just call the local dealer and find out how much it is to supply & install

        • yes but i dont have head unit which would display images in the cabin.
its got a old audio unit only

          • @prince10: Ahhh got ya

If you're up for a bit of DIY, you could use the parts here to do it yourself, plug and play

Otherwise just call a car audio store and find out.

Suggestion, refer to yours as a 2014 Corolla when talking to them as it seems to be very early 2015, and there was a change of model in 2015.

  • Yes, i released it only after buying that Toyota corolla model changed happened on 03/2015

  • Hi
Just got a quote back for the installation of audio head using camera of $400. is this reasonable ?

    all parts supplied by me.

head unit cost+ other parts cost is coming to $650 from ryda.com.au

    • i paid around 300$ for similar installation in a yaris. it seems expensive, but i find it has improved my driving experience so much and carplay is much easier to use than the bluetooth buttons etc on the wheel.

      • ok , let me check and get some more quotes.thanks mate

        • no worries. either way i think 300-400 is reasonable. for me anyway; heaps of benefits from installing the camera and head unit.

It might be a cheaper install if they supply, but the unit could be more expensive to make up the difference. It might be a better option to get supply and install for warranty purposes as then the installer needs to warrant the unit and camera as well as the install. If you supply and they install you might find yourself in a standoff with each blaming the other.

      • thanks for the advice mate but i have already ordered the head unit from ryda.com.au and did not think of the same before ordering.
Will keep in my mind for the future

        • It's good to order from Ryda, because they have a really good electrician to do the installation. And also they charge a cheaper price, the only thing you need to do is to book a time for your installation. I had done mine by Autobarn, which did a few things wrong. Finally, I got it fixed by Ryda, but I paid the extra.

        • Headunits aren't the hardest things to install.

You only need to solder a few wires if you get Aerpro/Stinger adapters.

          • @ol mate: Running a cable for a reverse camera is a bit beyond a beginner though. Time consuming removing trim panels and requires some experience to work out how they are mounted so you don’t break too many clips. Running a cable into the rear hatch complicates it even more.

  • Can keep your current screen and instal a Carplay interface box use with iPhone or Android wth harness about AU$500 all up, reversing camera add on about $50, changing screen type about AU$800 with the harness, both plus fitting. Look for Craply with Bluetooth and Wi Fi then don't need to plug phone in each time.

Can keep your current screen and instal a Carplay interface

This is the OP's factory head unit, good luck getting CarPlay to display on it. 😂
