My SG is about 4 years old and I've noticed lately how the motor is making a whirring noise, like it's struggling to hard to grind. I clean the machine regularly. I know a few of you guys also have this unit so I wondering if anyone else had noticed this noise or if I should start looking for a new unit?

It's the BCG820 model. Yes have removed the burrs and cleaned everything up. :) Cheers
What coffee do you use it for? Espresso or pourover?
Both? We just set the grinder on 9, fill the portafilter and make a flat white. :)
Did you mess around with the internal burr settings, the one where you take out the top burr and spin it around? Otherwise if it is under the 12 month warranty for breville products, i would contact breville. Breville doesnt make prosumer or high end consumer products that will last years of reliable service. I for one have one of these grinders and won’t be surprised if the grinder doesnt last on me and expect to upgrade in the near future.
Are your beans roasted properly? Green bean are very hard and will cause the machine to jam.
We get them from coffeesnobs mostly so I'd reckon they know what they're doing. :)
I don't know your model, but have you taken it apart and cleaned the conical burrs? Assuming it has them.
