I saw this in the Repco catalogue and picked one up today. Great Quality for a really low price. Other locks I looked at in this style were around $15.

RACQ Discount wasn't available on this item.

I hope some people find this useful.

  • it's a bit short. you'll barely be able to wrap it around anything. the one i've got is close to 2m long.

    • Then buy 2

  • I bought it for my new folding bike from Ray's Outdoors. It's the perfect length to wrap around tyre and pole. Exactly what I was after, so I guess it depends what you need it for.

  • Ideal for securing a $4.99 bike.
Seriously, you might as well "lock" your bike with a sturdy piece of rope.

Good price but that lock is a visual deterrent and nothing more. 2 or 3 bikes are lifted from outside the school where I work every month and they're usually locked with crap like this. You can go right through them with a pair of bolt cutters or hit them with a hammer a couple of times and they explode open.

When I saw the price, I thought the same thing - how good can it be? That's why I went to look at it first and I was surprised by the quality, weight and sturdiness of it. I thought I'd share, as it was a bargain for me.

Any lock is only a deterrent, if they want it bad enough they'll go to any length to steal it.

    • agreed, bike locks are deterrents for casual thieves only

  • too short. but good price. is this available at all stores?

    • Updated post with catalogue Terms and Conditions. Says store stock will vary, maybe call your local store before you venture out.

  • Might get one for the letterbox.

My only problem with this type of lock is that if you're leaving your bike somewhere for the whole day, it only takes a thief with tremendous patience to receive a free bike. But at least it sounds like you need something more than nail scissors to cut through this (for the thief without patience)
