Basically I built a new pc(i7 9700k,asus Z390-A, gigabyte rtx 2080 8gb) and would like to use Displayport to monitor, never having used it before.
But when plugged in to DP the monitor doesn't show anything, via HDMI works fine.
The monitor is on auto detection, and switching it to DP didn't do anything.
Any tips on how to get it to work via DP?
I only have one display so when I went in there it's greyed out as there is only one option.
Have you tried swapping the cables? DP cables are not born equal and some of the older ones don't work.
Also try re-install the driver because my DP port got cut off when the driver is updating - this indicates that it might be driver related.
PS: I am running a 4K LG display (DP) along with LG ultrawide (HDMI) using old GTX960.
I ended up trying new cables which didn't work at first, but did after powering everything down and turning it on an hour later.
Right click desktop -> Nvidia Control panel -> Multiple displays -> tick or untick displays as required -> apply -> OK.
