Lenovo Refuses to Acknowledge The problem? Help with Return

Hi guys

I recently received my new Lenovo L340 Gaming laptop. It's a great laptop but the display is yellow tinted compare to my other devices, e.g. laptop, iphone & ipad.

Lenovo tech support team said it's not a defect, so if I wanna return it I have to pay 20% restock fee, that is over $200.

The display is clearly abnormal but they don't recognise it. Any suggestions how should I negotiate with them?

Thanks

Here is the comparison

You don't have night light enabled do you? Obvious however it might be enabled by accident.

Yeah it's not in eye care or night light mode. I ringed lenovo support team they spend an hour on it and they cannot fix it.

      • Did you buy directly from Lenovo? Is there an option to physically take it back to the retailer?

Another option; you could possibly take it to a local, independent PC repairer and ask them what the problem is, and in the event that they can’t alter it so that it’s not yellowed, you could send that as evidence of a problem to Lenovo? It’s a stuff around but at least then you’d have confirmation that there is obviously a problem?

Otherwise I think you’d be best to just continue escalating your case with Lenovo.

Some Lenovo laptops come with Paper mode. Try pressing Fn ESC and see if that changes it.

If not you can try doing a colour calibration.

    • Thanks for the reply, in my case it's not due to paper mode or night mode. Colour calibration doesn't work as well. Lenovo support team also cannot fix the problem

  • It's probably a cheap TN display which won't help either. But you should be able to adjust the colour balance enough to get it acceptable.

    • Lenovo advertised it as IPS display

      • So they do. Which is odd because pcmag said the 15 came with a TN.

  • Is there any way to view one in a shop to compare it to?

  • Seems to be in power saving mode?

  • Why no comparison with a "white" page (like Ozbargain for example?)

  • Mine arrived today, I'll check mine out this weekend

I had that problem with my Carbon X1. It turned out that my screen was a lot dimmer than a regular X1 (found that out as they sent out a replacement). I experimented it by going to a completely dark room and had the laptop on the brightest setting.

  • Have you tried running Lenovo Vantage to diagnose for hardware problems?
(it's a long shot, but worth a try)
