any deals for the Netgear Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500?

    • only deals I know about are what is on our website or ebay - looking at the XR500 we don't currently have stock so probably won't have a good deal for it

  • Is this good? Sorry not familiar with routers.

it is ADSL, IMO not good but there is still some that could use it.

      • Nah, I've got hybrid NBN.

        • possibly would still work, see my comment below

    • This is an ADSL modem/router only. It cannot be used as a bridged router via any ethernet connection.

I'm not sure why they're even trying to sell this.

  • I was reading and this works with NBN? HFC or FTTC?

If ADSL can be disabled and one of the LAN ports used instead it should work but haven't tried it myself

      • No, not all chipsets work this way, and the manual mentions none of this functionality. Do not give this advice without confirming with the manufacturer website, ever.

        • I said if it can be disabled it should work but have not tried it myself, being very careful to not state what it would do.

Are you confirming that it will NOT work?

This model does not have eWAN support. The manual, specifications and product page make no mention of it at all.

Putting this into bridged mode and connecting a modem to it would effectively act like an extension cord, resulting in only the first device to connect being able to utilise the modem connection.

No, it does not have an eWAN function at all.

thanks, so it looks like this will be a dead weight after ADSL

I'm currently using this on FTTP, but it doesn't work on HFC. Pretty stable, very rarely I need to restart.

  • Not VDSL compatible from what I can tell. You're far better off spending a bit more and getting an ADSL/VDSL modem, and it'll mean if you're still currently on ADSL and get switched over to FTTN, you won't have to buy a new modem again.

  • Good router, I'm using this for over 6 years now. But I will not recommend it now, mainly because:
    1. Firmware and admin UI both are outdated. New admin UI by Asus is much feature rich.
    2. 66U or 86U would be much better buy, even if bit more expensive than this

  • Dont recommend.
Had poor experience with dsl performance with this
