[NSW] Free Waffle + Insects @ Central Station (Henry Deane Plaza) via The Economist (Sydney)

130

Hi all,

Another year, another The Economist deal featuring insects.

I tried the banana choc cric and it was fine.

There is the usual sales added on, but politely declining the offer is enough for them not to push the sale.

Enjoy.

  • +1 for eating insect

  • Did they reuse the same image for crickets and grasshoppers? Sure looks like it.

    • I didn't even realise but you're right. Their designer(s) sure are getting paid the big bucks for copypasta.

  • Are they still there?

    • +2

      They've had to hop away.

      • Thanks!

I feel you took that seriously when I was just making a grasshopper related joke. I have no idea if they are sorry.

"Environmentalists" are pushing insects for food as an alternative to other animal products. Meanwhile the plethora of already available plant products are derided as "yuck, vegan, boring, etc."

People want grasshoppers over plants; they want to join our fellow apes that we also, often, unfairly deride as stupid or "unevolved." In the process killing trillions of tiny but sentient beings, for less protein than if we had eaten the plants themselves rather than recycling them through the insects. My mind boggles.

  • The group came to my uni last year, they did insect icecream. Meal worms are actually really nice in ice cream. Its just sad I can't make it to Sydney, cause I'd try it.
