Went to Dealer to Buy Second Hand Car - but No Spare Tyre?

I went to a dealer to look at a 2nd hand car and the car looked good.

I opened the boot and saw that there was a spot for a space saver spare tyre but not tyre was there. I questioned it and the dealer told me that it was an option when the car was bought new. This sounds like bs. I’ve never ever heard a car ever being sold without a spare tyre.

Thoughts?

    PUNCTURE REPAIR KIT
This kit, otherwise known as the “Can of Goo", is made up of an air compressor and a can of tyre sealant.
These kits are often found in vehicles that have small boots, performance cars or vehicles equipped with overly large alloys and specific tyre types.

    and it continues on….
    .

  • make of car would help…… and you could do your own research

but yes BS unless it had runflats or puncture repair kit

  • For one the Toyota 86 was sold without a spare wheel, just a repair kit.

There are plenty of vehicles that were sold without spare tyres, with the spot often still there and the vehicle having run-flat tyres or puncture repair kits. Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean that's not the case. Now, they could be bullshitting you depending on what type of car it is, but we'd need to know the make and model first.

  • Who cares? And it's second hand, how do you know someone didn't use it up already.

Cheap second hand tyre with whatever rim in the same OEM size are probably in the scrap yard for $50-$100.

  • After all bargaining is done and the sale is ready for the handshake…

    "but I'll need to have a spare…"

  • Mustang was sold with no spare, but you could buy one as an option if you wanted a space saver.
