Huawei Answers with Statement Addressing Android Q & Software Updates, Google & Other Apps, Functionality & Warranty

Huawei (UK) has just released a statement, as well as extended answers to 8 'rumours'. It is quite an lengthy statement, so it is definitely worth having a read through it.

One of the key points I think is that Huawei mention that they are working on Android Q access to devices, as well providing a list of products they have submitted to upgrade to Android Q (useful for owners of existing devices). What are your thoughts on the statement?

  • Interesting stuff from Huawei overnight, it had to be carefully worded so as to not close off discussions with Google, should there be a change in policy.
As for those of us who have an Honor…

  • No surprises here.
Note that there is no mention of Android R which will be an issue.

I'd like to see them unlock bootloaders on their more recent devices. That will provide the community the option to install custom ROM's that will further extend software support past that which Huawei will be able to provide.

No mention of it from other manufacturers either. It's too early to be jumping on that bandwagon.

I for one am not interested in supporting this company with my money. In fact, based on China's recent behaviour and human rights abuse, I am not interested in supporting them in any way. Unfortunately for some things I do not have a choice but will do my best to try.

that's true, i wouldn't want to buy from companies operating in a country who's government does terrible things. I'm going to ignore all Apple and Google and Microsoft products from now on.
