  • are these like 100 times the price of a normal MR16?

    • Normally mr16 cant be controlled with app 🤷🏻‍♂️

      • so that makes 100x the price? sounds legit…

        • where did you buy 25 cents mr16

          • @dcep: I have told you a thousand times to not exaggerate…

  • Can these be used with dimmers?

    • Eh? Why it's a WiFi light….

      • If you have 12v transformer with dimmer then it might not work. I tired Philips led 5w bulbs and they flicker. The only one that i got working is the 8W philips master led.

        • I have posted a little knowledge below if that helps

      No

      • Thank you.

    • yes

  • Is this zigbee / zwave

    • Looks like WiFi only?

    • we also have zigbee GU 10

  • Does it work with electronic transformers?

    • +3

In short yes by rights it will. But…

Depends on the brand of electronic transformer and brand of light.
Some LED globes will flicker when put on electronic transformers or will not work at all.

      For two reasons
1 - The transformer and the globe don't get along (globe will flicker)
2 - The transformer will not output enough current for such a small wattage globe, generally in older electronic transformers (globe won't work/will flicker)

*Older 12v electronic transformers were introduced to lessen the heat output that the iron-core transformers were putting out.
but they use to run 50w halogen globes and now Australian standard is 35w halogen globes are the max wattage for halogen mr16 globes by law.
So basically they were made to run 35w/50w globes, If you thus run a 5w globe on these older electronic transformers and they don't work the transformer can not hold a steady current output as the low wattage is not recognised by the transformer.

Another thing to take note of would be the apps that control the lights, read reviews of the apps that run them and see if they are up to date or have support for the apps as most of these cheap MR16 RGB lights coming out of china aren't to crash hot, and you may find a lot of issues with the app not controlling the lights.

Sorry for the overload of info

  • I am interested in these but do they require a connection to a remote server to function? What happens if that is shut down? Are you left with a $25 dumb light in a few years time?

    • no need hub

  • I purchased this but can't connect it to the app. It's supposed to flash when switched on but it stays on continuously and so the app can't find it. There aren't any buttons on it either to trigger pairing mode.

    • dear, pls tell me which curtain u bought. i will help u solve the problem soon

      • curtain with switch version?

        • It's the downlight. I figured it out. Turn it off and on until it enters pairing mode
