Buying a House for a Pensioners

Hi everyone,
My dad and mom are pensioners they looking to build a house or buy a brand new one somewhere in Shepperton as it is cheaper than Melbourne.
Other than the stamp duty and the First home owner grand, is there is a building company that gives some sort of discounts for pensioners or any type of reduction.
also please suggest a building company with good repetition.
note: a loan is already approved
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

    Pensioner discounts for a house?

    You're kidding, right?

  • Try searching the Seniors Online Discount directory?

click Category -> House & Home -> Sub category > Home Building and Renovations

I don't think you'll find any discounts for building a home, though there will be discounts on home renovation, repairs and maintenance.

    • OP didn't state that the parents qualify as Seniors; there are many types of pensions.

just to make it clear, they are seniors as well

    • cool will take a look at it, thanks #scrimshaw

Everyone will give pensioners a 10% discount, straight after they add 10% to the quote.

Then they'll be saving 1%, how nice

(did you learn any maths at school?)

    • after they add 10% to the quote

after they add 10+% to the quote

Ask yourself, what's in in for the builder? Nothing? Well, money doesn't grow on trees.

    • That's why I posted this thread to avoid getting them ripped off.

My Dad used to be entitled to discounts on many things as he was a Gold Card TPI pensioner. Pretty much all the discounts available I could get a better deal on just by shopping around or asking for a better price / discount.

Pensioner discounts are there for people that are too scared to ask for a better price and aren't good at using the internet.

I'd recommend you simply shop around for the house that suits their needs rather than be price driven.

    • TPI gets amazing discounts off new cars. No GST for cars under $57k, no stamp duty, licence concessions.

      • I know and it looks great on paper but for some reason the dealership would decide that this was the discount and not offer any of the incentive that they would provide to other customers.

Dad's last 2 cars were 2nd hand Honda Accords (1x V6 seppo and 1x Euro). The new Subaru and (before that) Nissan that he bought were not good buys considering the government price relief available.

    building company with good repetition.

It's likely a company that's listed in "Australia’s Top Homebuilders for 2018", would have built the same house design repeatedly.

    • thanks for the recommendation.

  • Why Shepparton? My friend, a regional doctor, lived in Shepparton and I visited few times. It is very hot in Summer, rural and nothing much to do and too far from Melbourne. Now he lives and works in Bendigo, a much better place to live and close to Melbourne. If they want to live regional it would be better to reconsider Shepparton, there are better regional areas, even Warragul.

    • a couple reasons, its cheaper than other places and my sister works there. Thanks for the comment mate.
