Huawei Brands - Oppo, Huawei, Honor - Ethics

Do you think its ethical to sell any of these phones at the moment given the situation with Google and Huawei?

    Yes.

As long as you continue to get support after the blacklist (and google has said that you will).

If it wasn't ethical, the mods would ban any posts on these products.

    The phones still work.

There are a lot of items posted here that are useless from day dot.

Oppo is not a Huawei brand. It is owned by BBK which also owns OnePlus.

  • take it a bit further, if Huawei 'relaunch' with their won OS and app store would you get their latest and greatest phone?

I have a huawei watch and tablet, and I think they are great - but I don't know if I want to be an 'early adopter' of a new OS. I was literally hours away from getting the P30 pro on the day this all started, so part of me still wants to get it.

  • Huawei is making plans to stay in the phone business, and investing in making sure that happens.
It is testing its new operating system, called Hongmeng, which has been under development for 7 years. It may roll out in Q3 of this year.
From what has been reported, it will be compatible with Android; in other words, it will run third-party apps already developed for Android.
So if your device prompts you for an update in, say, October, it might just be for the new OS. Most people would not know what they are running on their phone anyway; the only difference with this is that they might have to re-download their existing apps from the 'Huawei Store' – though maybe not. There is already an Android app that will download your existing apps onto an iPhone, if you make that switch, so it might be similar for Android-to-Hongmeng.
BTW, I have an Honor phone and a Huawei watch, very happy with both and not planning on changing any time soon. And no, I have nothing to do with the company.
