  • Supersonic Rage Elite…….Is their marketing department a child just throwing out random 'cool' words.

I don't recommend these Patriot drives. Yes, they can hit the advertised peak speeds BRIEFLY, but that is only when copying very large single files. Try copy a directory of small files and these drives are FAR SLOWER than most other drives! Oh, and even when copying large files, the write speed drops off very rapidly (<30MB/s) once the built in buffer fills up. For ultimate speed, I recommend Sandisk Extreme or Extreme Pro. For value, check out the Samsung Bar lineup, which are reasonably fast, cheap, and well made. PNY aren't bad either but some people have had reliability issues. Kingston USB drives used to suffer similar issues to these Patriot drives being slow with small files, and it's just not a fun experience!

    • $32 for a 256gb usb…i do expect it to have some pretty big draw backs!

Excuse the Bing videos link. My damn phone wouldn't give me a direct yt link. Only review I could find.

Large files does 200mbs read/45mbs write. Small files drops off to very slow as with anything. Seems acceptable for a cheap large usb?

      • I had the 512GB unit. Sold it. I found that for most of my workloads, it would on average be slower, and frustratingly unresponsive to use, compared to most regular USB drives (e.g. cheap Sandisk Ultra).

There's nothing wrong with a cheap drive, its just I don't think it lives up to the advertising claims. If it did meet them, they could sell these drives at a premium price. I think they're just a bit of a trap.

      For ultimate speed

Just buy a portable SSD … they cost about twice as much but it's worth it.

  • How do these compare to the supersonic rage 2?

    • Very similar inconsistent performance.

  • Thanks OP… needed a bigger drive for larger sneaker-net transfers. I got a Samsung bar 128GB that broke the first time a did a largish transfer (20GB pst file) and returned it. Hopefully, this one lasts a bit longer.

  • looks like its gone already.

  • It is gone

  • Wow, so quick

128gig at 30 dollars is there.

  • $249 now lol

  • USB sticks received today as advertised, A+++ seller:)
