Is this a good deal for solar?

Hi, I'm a newbie to solar and looking to have one installed in metro Adelaide. Just saw this ad from Battery Solar Solutions:

END OF FINANCIAL YEAR SPECIAL OFFER

The price is truly UNBELIEVABLE. Now everyone can have a premium 6.6kw Solar System supplied AND installed for just $4,180. You'll get:

✅ 24x Jinko Solar Panels
✅ 1x Fronius European Inverter
✅ Free in-home consultation
✅ 10 Year Warranty
✅ SA Government QUALIFIED Provider
✅ Proudly South Australian owned and operated
✅ Financial option available
✅ Premium Battery Storage systems available

We only have a limited number available at this price – don't miss out!

Looks like they have good reviews online. Anybody got any experience with this company? Does this seem like a good deal or should I look some more? From my limited research, I believe Jinko panel and Fronius inverter are decent enough, is that right?

Any input is much appreciated. TIA.

price isnt the cheapest but is competitive.
A lot depends on the installer , worth paying a little extra for peace of mind and follow up service.

    • I was also looking at this one from gnr8nrg (also just an ad, not a proper quote) since this company has more reviews but also more expensive. Not sure whether it's worth the extra $2k plus:

  • Reviews from solar quotes seems good so I have just submitted my details to them to get a proper quote. Also it's local and their office is based near me. I just want to see what people think so that I can be a bit more knowledgeable before I chat with them :).

PS. Not sure why someone reported this post as sockpuppeting. I'm not affiliated with them in any way at all, just looking for other people's opinion.

People should always use solar quotes reviews and Google reviews, as the best guild lines for a finding a quality installer.
Any more than one or two bad reviews should be the biggest flag you gonna get ripped off, or you install will have some many corners cut during the install.
The amount of people getting ripped off by dodgy installers is disgusting at the moment.
Remember it's hard to claim the warranty if the installer is gone broke in 6 months time. Even harder if he is products that are no name tier 1 solar panels in European inverters is they all claim.

  • Solargain WA: Fronius Primo 5.0-1-I and 20x Jinko 315W JKM315M-60 for $4,690 (fresh quote)

    • Cheers mate, at least I got a proper quote to compare with. Let's see what they say when I talk to them.

Cheapest option would have been voting Greens in order to dismantle the private electricity disaster and drop prices by 40% immediately and then recieve solar panels that the Government provides free of charge.

Instead of voting Liberals, the Party that literally scammed SA into privatised electricity in 1997, and then created a system where the consumers are taking the financial risk of building the power generation plant.

While mainly foreign owned businesses keep prices so high that large enterprises are no longer viable according to the ACCC.

Let alone the social cost of hundreds of thousands of households having their power cut off every year (nationally).

    • I agree…
      Step 1: wait 3 years
      Step 2: vote green
Step 3: get panels put up for free, richy will probably do the install himself

Just make sure clives monorail doesn't block the sun

    • A greens government is providing free solar for all?

Sweet, I'm sure they've done accurate budgeting to know how they're affording that…!

It is important to look at the specs of the inverter, more than the panels. Panels often come with more warranty than the inverter, and the failure of a panel is not catastrophic to the system. On thr other hand inverter failure renders your system useless.
In general Fronius is a great inverter but there are some models that are not as good. Use Google for reviews on the inverter.
Jinko is a good panel too, again check the model.
    Cheers

    • Ok cheers! I'm still waiting for the proper quote to come through to see the specifics. Probably after the weekend.

In addition to this, panels often have a longer performance warranty. Can you imaging trying to prove that in 20 years? Would you even care by then? Many Inverters have a 10 year warranty. But that is normally broken down into first 5 years parts and labour. Second 5 years, parts only. You might even have to pay postage as well. Many of the local companies aren't the cheapest, because they can provide an actual service, pre and post sale, not just slap some hardware on your roof. Anyone who doesn't tell you all these small details during the quote process, probably isn't the company you want to go with.

        • It's good to know all these things, cheers!

The price isnt amazing. I would compare that price with Q Cells and Sunpower as they are the best two brands in the country. If there is not much different I'll go the cheaper of the two I mentioned as there is minimal difference between the two.

I'm in the renewable industry who benchmark the specs and prices.

    • Thanks, I'll have a look!
