The apple store don't offer the iPhone 6 anymore.
Production Ceased in Sept 2016.

Definitely get a 6S or better. Support is being dropped for the 6 and it is known to get 'touch disease' as it ages.
You can get a new and unlocked iPhone 6S from Officeworks for $427.

Kogan had a few iPhone deals a few days ago-think there was 6s amongst it.

I'd say avoid the iPhone 6 as it only has a 1GB RAM which isn't too good these days. The iPhone 6S would last you slightly longer.
