    You had me at free

    thanks Op :)

  • Did a bit background research. I'd say just be cautious especially when it comes to cosmetics.

    • What did you find in your research? Received this as a freebie last time. Effects were nice, as much as a mask can be, but ingredients not impressive for the vitamin c mask.

Watch out! Ms Bargainer is on a roll with the freebies! X)

  • Cheers OP, but this is something people can learn to do themselves. We can learn to be more self-sufficient.

So, I recommend people whisk one egg white to a fairly stiff peak (save the yolk for cake or whatever) and mix in one teaspoon of organic honey. Leave it on your face for as long as you can stand (an hour or two is good) and wash off with natural soap. I've been meaning to add crushed vitamins or rosehip oil. Leaves skin feeling very soft and looking nourished.

I also invested in a bunch of tools (power tools, wrenches, etc) to learn how to fix my own car, and I found some great TAFE books at Uni for home repairs which comply with Aus safety regulations. When I finally manage to buy a home I will be equipped for a high degree of self-reliance. Looking forward to having a vegie patch and going solar, too, and eventually going vegan to minimise my carbon footprint.

    • Wow

First you were talking about how to make face mask and then you say you invested in a bunch of power tools…(☉。☉)! I seriously thought you were going to lead on to using a sander with extra fine grit to exfoliate until I read the next line lol

      • Lol. Well, I did reference self-sufficiency but next time I'll make a heading with a chapter index. :)

      • Oh, I wanted to also mention that although I want to go vegan, I'm not against hunting for food. I watch a great channel on YouTube from time to time called "My Self Sufficiency". Really great. See, I really do need an index… All these Uni essays have me on ramble-mode.

    • Home made face masks don’t give the best results but they’re fine as an occasional thing, just make sure to test patch first.

Something like honey, oats, or Greek yoghurt are okay, but egg whites are too harsh on the skin and tend to dry it out so I wouldn’t recommend. Also avoid any home made face masks with cinnamon or nutmeg as they are common irritants.

If you’re skin is reactive/sensitive I wouldn’t use home made face masks unless you’re really prepared to test your skin.

Buying the blank sheet masks from Muji and preparing them with a toner, green tea, or spa gel water familiar to the skin gives me nice results without the risk of irritation that comes with some home made recipes.

      • Thanks for the advice. I don't find the egg white to be a problem, it acts as an astringent and the honey balances it out (though, I haven't scientifically proven it). I forgot to mention oats, they make a great addition to the egg white/ honey mixture. I'm guessing you would advise people to be wary of the masks offered in this post since they are home-made? I am wondering what ingredients they contain, though. My mask is simply albumen and honey, I have no idea what theirs contain. "Home-made" could mean anything. Crack is home-made, lol.

Anyway, glad you're getting good results. I, via a tester at Chemist Warehouse, tried the La Poche Rosay (?) serum. It left my skin beaming for a few days. But at $70 for a tiny bottle… Sheesh.

        • I haven’t seen the ingredients list yet but my guess is they probably include the ‘essence’ of the natural ingredients? The difference between store products and ‘home made’ face masks is lab testing and QC so they can account for different types of skin a bit more. Even then most skincare recommends test patching anyway (skin type, condition, and sensitivity varies wildly and results can still sometimes be a little unpredictable). So yeah, I wouldn’t caution against this face mask, just test patch as you would with anything else!

There might be some literature out there on your egg/honey combo, it’s definitely worth taking a look if it interests you. Otherwise you might need a lab, a lit review, and some controls to test it scientifically lol!

It could just be that the egg/honey mask you’re making is more suited to oily or combination skin? Either way if it works for you it works for you and that’s the important thing! 😀

          • @Honeychiles: Lol. Thanks :)

Yeah, I am here wondering if it's a marketing tactic. If so, it's pretty bad and will probably backfire and leave a sour taste in most people's mouth's.

        • Maybe and now I’m getting spammed by Pacific Brands.

    • same here. disappointed.

  • +4

Due to overwhelming demand we can't fulfil your sample, but while your here check out these other offers. No thanks. Neg.

  • Yep, nothing for us either.. Bloody "overwhelming demand"….

  • Nothing doing for myself or the wife either. I’d say it’s a fair bet none (or very few) were fulfilled.

  • Did anyone not get that email who signed up for this deal? I also got the rejection email :-(
