    Just do some research before settling for a bottom of the barrel insurance company.

    This is a few years old but I imagine nothing has changed. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2232104

  • Not sure if Woolies car insurance is as crap as their travel insurance, but since they're both round the "really cheap" bracket of both areas of insurance, I'd hazard a guess that they are just as bad. Based off reviews and stories online.

    Recently did a stack of quotes. Ww was 50% higher ($1k+) than the better providers for me (QBE, Allianz, Beyond Bank, Unity) for $3K less AV and a $150 higher excess! Everyone's situation varies but the bottom line is (literally ha ha)
    shop around

  • they have two options one with driving less than 2k a year and price was nearly halfed ..
    anyone took this option? and whats disadvantage ? its our second car we don't drive it often

    God their price beat terms are terrible.

    You MUST have a renewal in the last 30 days
    The insured value MUST be agreed (not market from your current insurer).

    My renewal was in March.. they weren't even interested in helping, even if I considered cancelling my current insurance and taking up a new one with Woolworths (mind you they came in at over $300 more).

    PASS!

  • Only signed up because of the $100 gift card, however the WW premium was about $80 more expensive so I am only $20 better off taking into account the gift card. Have always been with SGIO (NRMA) and they have been so easy to deal with for my last 2 claims, will go back to them after this policy ends.

  • just called them to get price beat, they say the maximum they can give is $50 off their online quoted premium, which $800 far from my current insurance. False advertising! Pass

  • They were cheaper for me than Bingle by $30, and I (supposedly) will get a $100 gift card, so for me in $130 off. I hope I never have to claim it.

    Reading all the reviews.

  • Hope this helps for others who already have a policy with them:
    - I had an existing policy with them and asked them about this deal. They said sign up again through online and cancel the renewal;
    - Re-did the quote and was only $50 better after the gift card - didn't bother;
    - At the time of renewal, I noticed I had driven 2,000 KMs over KMs allotted;
    - Called them up and told them to change the 'start' KM reading on the renewal policy so whatever the renewal policy KMs are - are on top of this (i.e. if I drove 2KM over the allotted, I took the risk of excess $1K);
    - They said okay all done but didn't change the total allotted KMs for the renewal year - which didn't make sense!?

    TL:DR - if you're paying for allotted KMs, have exceeded them and are renewing with woolies, cancel and re-do the policy online. Because they will include the exceeded KMs in next policy. If you are under them, you can reduce the KMs in next renewal - for lesser premiums.

    I cancelled my existing policy, re-signed up using this offer. I was paying $858 for the end odo reading of 50,800 now paying $803 with a $100 gift card and end odo reading of 50,277.

      Yeah it's always better to sign up again with these promos and not renew with them.

    • Dammit! I signed up with them 3 weeks ago and didn't realise this code was available. I can't cancel either because our neighbour backed into our car last week and we are now in the middle of a claim!

    Update: I entered CARX03 during quote process, it was accepted and acknowledged on the last page (just before payment). I bought the policy and 1 week later, I called up Woolies to confirm the card is on the way. They said they are not honouring the code.

    His excuse was that the website is designed to accept all codes even if it's not valid in my situation. I'm over it, that's total bullshit.

    Anyway, just thought this experience might be helpful. Save all screenshots for proof.

    • Did you cancel the policy right away with them ?

    • Oh, that's unfortunate.

      I emailed about my policy (I bought third party fire and theft) and this is what they said:

      In regards to the email, we can see on the system that you have entered the promo code eligible for the $100 gift card. Please be advised that the gift card will be processed 45 days after the first payment has cleared.

        Update on the update:
        I had forgotten that before I had that call with the contact centre, I had written in to ask about CARX03 eligibility (after purchasing the policy).

        I received this email below 2 days after the call ended.

        "We apologise for the delay in our response.
        In regards to your email below, we can confirm that your policy does have the promotion code for the Gift Card.

        Please be advised that your gift card can take up to 45 days from the first payment on this policy clearing."

        So i'm going to ignore the call ever happened and keep this email as proof :)

  • Confirming that I've received my gift card for this promotion, on my third party fire and theft policy

    • Is it a e or physical card?

      • Physical card in the mail.

  • the code sis valid

  • the code is still valid. i just applied
